Thanks for this. I need a new sign on bonus so this one looks good.

I've not dealt with HSBC before, but I'm happy to take their points :)

Intend to apply as soon as my Bankwest point post.

it's a bit confusing as to what will activate the bonus points.

on the main page for the platinum card

Qantas Credit Card Frequent Flyer | HSBC Australia

60,000 bonus Qantas Points1 available to new customers who spend $3,000 on eligible purchases on their new platinum card within 3 months.

but then when you go into details

Qantas Frequent Flyer Credit Card | HSBC Australia

60,000 Bonus Qantas Points1 when you apply, are approved and make an eligible purchase with your credit card within 3 months.

and then the small print at the bottom has

  • [SUP]1[/SUP] Bonus 60,000 Qantas Points offer is available to HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card holders who make an eligible purchase within 3 months of applying for their card. Points will ordinarily be credited within 2 months of making an eligible purchase. Eligible purchases exclude interest free and other promotions, balance transfers, business expenses, cash advances, fees and charges, disputed transactions, BPAY[SUP]®[/SUP] and any government fee or charge.

A little confusing perhaps, but I think it's spend $3000 in 3 months to get the points.

Agreed with the 3k in 3 months.

So received this card last week, a few days later a RSA token generator arrived. First credit card I have ever owned that came with an RSA - call me impressed.

Think I prefer the Citibank way of using an app to generate a token. 1 less thing to carry around

Decided not to wait. Applied tonight.

Approved instantly. Says card in 5 to 7 days.

Applied and received approval on Friday. Waiting to receive card to get started on the bonus spend requirement.

Great deal this one

Had this card about 16 months ago then cancelled it

Thinking about signing up again for the awesome sign up bonus.

Does anyone know though, if there is a min limit before you can get the bonus.

Normally its 12 months but cant find anything in the fine print so hoping it does not matter ad i can re apply again to get the sign on bonus.

Card arrived 3 days after application. Still waiting on the other things like PIN + PBN to arrive so that I can set it up and start using properly.

Might just be me but pretty sure a PIN never arrived for me. I set it inside internet banking.

Minimum spend met - now to see how long till points post.

I can't activate internet banking without a PBN. So waiting on this to arrive.

EDIT: PBN arrived in the mail today.

Everything now set up.

Strange that you need both a primary and secondary password to be able to access internet banking.

HSBC seems like a very clumsy internet banking set up.

Still waiting for my card. So you need a separate PIN in the mail like with most other credit card offerings?

No Betty, you just need the 10 digit PBN. Once you have that you can register for phone banking then internet banking. Seems odd but you need to register for phone banking first.

Once you do all of this you can set your own PIN via online banking.

Just noticed this in the terms and condition:

"Bonus points will be credited within 2 months of eligible spend criteria being met."

Hopefully they may post sooner.

Does anyone know if HSBC charge for paper credit card statements?
