Have you enjoyed the free night in London yet? Any luck with an upgrade using your new plat status?

not yet.

wont be in London until September

but with the ITN promo I achieved through some modest work travel and the dining rewards I managed to have enough points and free nights for 4 nights at a London CP !

happy days!

A silly question, but does IHG have a soft landing? I'm assuming not, but my mind has gone blank on it.

Last year, they left my status as platinum (which I gained the year before via a SM to my HH diamond). I'm soon up again and I doubt I'll be left again at platinum so (in the event of no soft landing) I think I'll renew AMB (at $150 and some bonus points abck, it's usually worth it) and that will give me gold. If they don't leave me platinum again (which I assume they won't), I'll buy dining rewards which should boost me back to plat. I don't often use IHG but when I do it's IC and they do seem to recognise the level, so for me, it's marginally "worth it" I guess, with the certs and the upgrade.

No soft landing, and believe the status regrades have been done.

What's the record for status comps?

Up until signing up for DR this year, I was Gold for about 5+ years without the necessary requal and no more than two paid "Gold" (when that was possible).

Hey I'm not that well travelled, however since being a platinum Ambassador, I don't feel you get treated any different than a gold at IC Im happy to be corrected

Mrs Sbv72 and I both had soft landings to gold last year. I have since upgraded to Platinum via Dining Rewards. Trying to convince the Mrs to do the same. $249 for 2 x $50 F&B vouchers + 1 free night (which could be used for CP in London which we currently have booked at £150) + upgrade to Platinum seems like a no brainer to me.

I hope you're right markis10, as I'm still showing platinum and currently enjoying IC SIN where I believe I've received more than a single level upgrade (very nice, large room, but not a suite, off the back of the base level club room). So if you're right about status regrades being completed, then it may indicate they've comped me plat for another year (third). They did throw me a few challenges to "win me back" as they put it, which I completed, so maybe that was enough goodwill shown.

I think that's the general feeling...IC only recognise amb or RA rather than colour......but I couldn't be sure. My comment about platinum was more for the other IHG brands and I did receive better treatment recently at CP Yass Island by being platinum. I'm certainly not a fan of CP or HI, but I quite enjoy the few ICs I've stayed at. The rewards I think are considerably less than at the Hilton, but the IC hard product of the ones I've sampled is nicer than Hilton.....closer to Conrad I'd think (IMHO).

I hope you have luck with that one......but AFAIK, IHG aren't well known for giving away free club access to anyone except RAs.
Sometimes I don't know what I am thinking.

I stayed in Holiday Inn Chiang Mai a few weeks ago. Didn't check-in until ~9:00pm as we were in the village for my nephews 1st birthday party and we were upgraded to executive floor. I had paid for the business success package for the Set your Sights promotion and this included breakfast. I did not think to check if I had executive lounge access but as I was upgraded to executive I would think that would be the case,

I have just booked 4 nights in April but again included breakfast as it was dirt cheap. Will see what happens then.

Signed up on the Basis of $249, 13 month membership and 2 $50 dining vouchers. Have just received my membership kit and there is only 1 $50 voucher and only mentions 1 voucher in the letter. Has anyone else had this issue? And any advice? Cheers

Call them - the $50 vouchers are actually electronically attached to your account. I haven't found a way of seeing them online, so you need to call and see if there are 2 attached to your account.

Do Intercontinental hotels honor the guarantied upgrade for Ambassadors on the free night stay?

In my humble opinion, yes they do. Where are you staying? Someone might be able to help out with a specific hotel. Hoping you mean ambassabor weekend certificate

I mean the free night certificate from the dining reward. It's for a Tahiti stay.

Sorry, ignore my previous comment as well, I too was referring to the Amb weekend night, not the DR free night.

Had a similar issue a year or two back, you need to almost record the phone call as to what was offered.

A quick call back and they sent me out the missing two vouchers they promised, a bottle of wine and an extra BOGO cert from memory.

How long do the Dining Rewards welcome packs generally take to arrive? I have been waiting for about 6 weeks. Should I give them a call?
