IHG Hotels that recognise status

HI Cairns

Booked: Standard King room on Points Break
Received: Welcome letter, upgrade to ocean view king room

CP Torquay for Australia Day long weekend.

Booked a rewards night. Given a very large corner apartment. Much bigger than the room we received last year.

No welcome letter.
No acknowledgement that I was even a PC memeber let alone Platinum.

CP Hunter Valley (Lovedale) - Quiet, corner room, letter of welcome, newspaper.
CP Changi Airport, Singapore (Dec 09) - Personalised check-in (they called us out of the queue which was a lovely touch seeing that it was 11pm at night), upper level floor, 2 giant Choc-chip biscuits, 4 Chocolate truffles, welcome letter, 2 bottles of water each day (this may be standard though), newspaper.
CP New Bridge Road London (Dec 09) - Welcome letter, 2 bottles of water each day (this may be standard though), newspaper.
HI Paris-La Villette (Dec 09) - Upgraded to a king suite which was wonderful seeing that we were 4 to the room. Each day they provided 2 bottles of water, 1 bottle of orange juice and a medium-sized toblerone. Subsequently found out that we weren't charged for internet usage (normally Euro10/day) which was a pleasant surprise.

IC Burswood yesterday - Upgraded to Club, bottle of wine, big bottle of perrier (both bottles cold), and some fruit.

Renovation noise is loud during the day but cannot be helped.

I assume most of those benefits would be due more to your RA status than your PC Plat status?

Otherwise, a vanilla PC Plat would probably not get a thing at ICs.

Both benefits would also have been afforded an Ambassador, certainly the welcome gift would not have changed, I have got the welcome gift as a PLat before at this property prior to getting AMB and it was the same but without the water.

The priority club treatment is equally applicable at IC's as well as at other hotels in the chain, although some hotels do seem to think Six Continents and Priroity Club are two different programs for two different chains, there is not distinction between chains by the program/ICHG in the T&C's

It certainly seems the bottle of wine is a default gift at many hotels now.

/October 09/

ICGS HKG
- Upgraded room (city view --> harbour view)
- No drinks;
- late checkout (+2hrs)
- bottled water (2/day)

Was newly minted Gold at time

HI Atrium SIN
- No upgrade
- No drinks
- No late checkout
- No bottled water
- not staying there again (decor too tired and staff indifferent / unhelpful).
Best part of stay there was ordering matriciana pizza and receiving a margarita instead!

Holiday Inn Atrium Singapore.
-Upgrade to a high floor suite, although the suite was an ex-smoking suite and had the carpet burns to prove it.
- Room was *very* tired. (ala docjames' comment.) They're in the middle of an upgrade project (which is mandatory I believe to get the "new" Holiday Inn logo), so hopefully they'll gut and refresh that room.
- Gifts from the hotel were 2x water, 1 x drink voucher, 4xFerrero Rochre's and 2 apples.

The only reason I stayed here was price, and overall it was reasonable.

Crowne Plaza Hong Kong
No status recognition that I was aware of.

14th Feb & 15th Feb. (Chinese New Year)

Crowne Plaza Melbourne.
Booked Queen Premium River Suite (using Lindsay Wilson's POGO) and upgraded to the Presidential Suite.

Also received a welcome card and a bottle of red wine and a 2 pm checkout.

Thank Lindsay.:D

Crowne Plaza Hong Kong (Stay #2)

Was upgraded to a high floor Executive Club Level room with Racecourse views, although I got the impression that Lounge Access was not included. Didn't ask for clarification as it was a quick overnight stay with a very early departure.

Don't recall any other amenities provided.

14th Feb & 15th Feb. (Chinese New Year & Valentine Day)

IC Perth Burswood

Booked standard room on best available rate just the night before and upgraded to River Suite. Bowl of fruit, red wine and Perrier water on top of the free mini bar as RA.

Club access, valet parking also included.:D

Crowne Paza Canberra

Booked standard room using Priority Club points and was upgraded to Deluxe Room.:p

I booked a standard room 27 Jan - and got nothing - no upgrade, no note, no welcome back, not even an acknowledgement - tried to call the relationship manager and got sent to a voice mail. Duty manager advised the hotel was full and as such no privileges today period. Considering the prices they are charging and the fact I just completed my 25th stay there (over 2 years), recognition and acknowledgement of Plat members is very patchy.

This stay reminded me why I usually stay at the Hyatt most of the time, even if it is out of the way from the CBD. Sometimes it is good to try somewhere different to know how good you can get it elsewhere!:!:

Just checked in to the HI Potts Point - my first stay as a Gold. Haven't been at this property before.

Booked: Reward Night ($20K + $30) Queen Bed Standard
Received: Joshua at Front Desk advised me that I had been upgraded to a Harbour View room. Excellent
Welcome Amenities: Hmmm, still trying to find them ....

Its not a bad property all things considered, especially if you get one of the suites for NYE :D, from memory the lifts are a tad slow though!

Certainly handy to Kings Cross (railway station), which I need to use this afternoon and tomorrow to get to City/NthSyd/Parramatta. Sirocco's downstairs - might check it out for dinner tonight (see if it's as good as the one at Surfers Paradise).

Upgrade was to a room opposite the lift, so I'm seeing what that is like - if it's too noisy, I'll see about a room change.

Crowne Plaza, KL, Malaysia - booked a standard room using points and was upgraded to a club room with use of all club benefits. Had a great stay. :)

I think the HI Potts Point has one of the best breakfasts around especially for the price - fabulous omelets and the bircher muesli and fresh fruit are excellent. The HI Darling Harbour could certainly learn a thing or two from them.

Hmmm, that's interesting Fifa. I am a regular at HI Darling Harbour and have never had a problem with their breakfasts :(.

I'll be trying the $19.50 breakfast here tomorrow and will definitely be trying both of them...and making use of my Priority Privilege card to make it $9.75

The Golden Arches across the road from HI DH used to get my business, must say I have never had breakfast in the restaurant, usually because I am time poor having woken up and spent to much time on AFF :p
