They used to be a good hotel, wonder if the drop in recognition/service is because of the management change, they lost a good one when he was murdered in India.

I think it must be under new management, but it seems to be really below CP standard, and I would say barely HI standard. It has the bones of a good hotel, but the rooms are dated, the gym isn't great, but the service is passable, but there is nothing that made me want to come back. The lack of any recognition is a first world problem, but getting recognition is something I enjoy and makes me want to return, especially if the recognition includes something nice to take home to the family such as a bottle of wine.

CP Surfers
Booked: "Standard Room" PP $110 rate
Received: Oceanview Executive King
Welcome Gift: Chocs and a note from front office manager.

Nothing's changed in a year, although the light rail work is mostly complete out the front making access easier, same old trick of having dinner in the tavern for same food as room service at half the price, chargeback to room for obvious reasons.

Hotel was quiet with plenty of parking, nice to now have good fast free Internet, overall a pleasant and relaxing stay.

Thanks for the tip.

It was such a lovely day here on the GC that we headed to Broadbeach ourselves for lunch at a great little restaurant in Qld Ave called Yellowfin. I can recommend it for a near perfect meal at reasonable prices (usual disclaimer....no realtionship to restaurant, in fact first time diners but we'll definitely be back).

Holiday Inn Express Orchard Rd, Singapore.

Lovely property. Slightly more than the standard HIX. I like how breakfast had different Asian options each day.

Received a room on the 15th (of 16) floor. Personalised card from GM. 2 bottles of water each day and a filter tap downstairs to fill up as you please.

Would happily stay here again.

Good value for points but $$ rates are silly, its $20 cheaper than the IC tomorrow night

That's good to hear, I'm planning to stay there for the first time in late-November. Will opt to burn points rather than $$ I think.

Holiday Inn Flinders Lane Melbourne
Platinum

Upgraded to Suite, very welcoming
Really nice room, great views. Always a choice in Melbourne between CP and HI Flinders Lane. Much prefer HI, seem to be always upgraded to suite and these rooms are very welcoming.

My VA SG comped gold just came through, I know it's a long shot considering some of you guys are plats and struggling with status benefits, but should I expect anything than the 10% extra points as a gold?

Property: Crowne Plaza Newark Airport

Booked: King Bed Executive
Received: King Bed Executive
Rate: Reward Night

Room is fairly big. Comfortable. Not much noise from outside. As an airport property goes, of course there's not much around in terms of shops, restaurants and whatnot (you can get to them, but you have to walk on the major roads - not for the feint hearted).

Interesting range in the gift bag..
If not for the H2O receipt, what would have been the elite gift?
I received a torch last stay at the IC MNL. Expecting brownout? I exclaimed

I don't think elite gifts are to be expected in IHG. We receive them (as documented here), but they aren't gazetted. And, as you can see in one of my cases, I didn't get anything additional at all. (One might argue this is due to the rate being a reward night, but that too is up for debate).

So I should be content with the 2 vouchers for drinks at the bar for the HI HKG, whilst on a recent reward stay.
The reception did emphasise that this was an elite offering.
