IHG Hotels that recognise status

Property: InterContinental Singapore

apparently the Business room category will always ensure you get the club,

That's a good tip. For my one and only visit there, I booked club as I did want it, but now I know, I may be tempted to return and book business this time.

However not always the case IIRC the times I gave booked a business room, as a Plat. I've had upgrades but have had to opt in for the paid option for the Club Access as with other IC properties in Asia.

Was there two nights this week and this was my experience also.

The price to have Club Access (had to ask, not offered immediately) this time was $100 per night. Last year was offered the same but managed a discount on the second night to $S50. Given the price of wine in Singapore (and many Asian countries), then assuming you are a wine drinker, this is not bad value at $S75 per night which is not much more the cheapest bottle of wine in a decent restaurant. And the breakfast and hot food of an evening were very good IMO.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Past couple of stays @ the IC SIN the supplement for the Club access was +SGD50 per night, which I thought was reasonable as with other properties in Asia the common rating for Club access appears to be around the USD70 range.

Interesting... Is that as a Platinum, or Platinum AMB? IC SIN have been quite specific with me a couple of times about how to get the Club access included through booking the Business Room. I know and so wouldn't expect many ICs to go out of their way for non AMB Platinums, as right or wrong as this might be!

I guess I'll just be extra grateful in case it is a fluke!

Cheers,
Matt.

As a Platinum Amb. for the last stays.

We stayed the IC Le Grand in Paris on Dining Rewards free nights ( x 2 - my Membership + partner's Membership )

I am Plat AMB ( first night ), and partner is a newly minted Gold IHG member ( second night ).

They gave us the AMB upgrade for both nights - which was from 'basic' room, to top floor balcony King ( Delux ? ) with tower view from balcony ...

The Club upgrade was charged at 120 Euros for the first night ( didn't opt for the second night, as was planning to be out often ... )

For the 120 Euros, we were permitted to have breakfast on checkin morning ( we arrived off Eurostar train at about 09:00 hrs. ) - where French bubbly was available for self-service !!

Then, there was the afternoon tea spread, followed by 'twilight drinks' / canapes etc.

Given we only paid for the one day Club upgrade .... after breakfast the following day, you would think 'that was it' ....

We advised the Club staff, that were not checking out until 16:00 hrs. and that our Eurostar train was not leaving until 21:00 hrs.

We were offered the opportunity to return to the Club Lounge AFTER our day's sight-seeing for afternoon tea, AND come back to the Lounge after check out, to wait for our train departure time ( until we actually needed to leave for the Station ). Luggage kept downstairs ready to be collected later.

So, all up, we had great value from our Dining Rewards Memberships, and the one 120 Euro Club upgrade. Effectively, we got two days of Club Lounge upgrade for the price of one !!

Another stay at Holiday Inn on Flinders and another upgrade from basic room to the suite, great staff and so much better than the IC in Melbourne

I assume you mean "so much better upgrades"??
Because i've been in the suite - take the base room at IC Rialto any day of the week ahead of it.

So much better as in "hello, we welcome your business and appreciate you being here" rather than the continual blasé approach IC have in Melbourne.

No in-room amenity provided, but then I think that was because I had them change the assigned room at check-in... and then kept the DND on for too long. Wasn't in the hotel much anyway. Continue to get the club included for booking the 'Business' room.

Cheers,
Matt.
