IHG Hotels that recognise status

Are you Diamond and did you select breaky as your amenity?

I was given a card for each morning which had x 2 and handed it to staff member then straight to buffet.
Yes and yes. The only card I was given at voco Brisbane was a drinks card to redeem

The Diamond Welcome Amenity is choice of:
  • Free breakfast for 2 for each night of the stay
  • Points (not available in grater China)
  • Free Drink or snack
You should be asked at check-in which one of these amenities you would like to choose for the stay. Note this if for Diamond membership level only. Platinum members do not have Breakfast as a choice. Below Platinum there is no check-in amenity offered.

So if you received drinks vouchers as the check-in amenity, then that is all you get (no breakfast).

And I got both drinks and breakfast. Sometimes you get more than one amenity at the hotel's discretion e.g. I asked for breakfast at IC Adelaide, but they also gave me 600 points.

Stayed at Crowne Plaza T4 Heathrow for six nights ( London for Coronation week ).

Rewards stay. Six nights for 149,000 points ( as Diamond Ambassador Member ).

Upgraded to Club Lounge floor, WITH Club access. Daily full buffet breakfast in main hotel restaurant. As much bottled water as you wanted ....

Sounds OK?

Bloody expensive place to pay for though ...

I booked seven months out. Paid room was 151 GBP. Week before I arrived, paid price went to 300 GBP a night ! That's like $AUD600. !!

Only had room service once ... Club sandwich. On check out day, a chicken Caesar salad, with two glasses of sav. blanc. $AUD164. ( 81 GBP )

Their 'Club Lounge' was disappointing ...

No spirits, and only 'Chardonnay' as the 'white'.

Food ? Only two 'hot' ( warm if that ) choices. One was always vegan.
Eg. Chicken pieces ( no sauces ), and curry puff triangles ( overly dried out ).
There was a bar fridge, with self service soft drinks, and 35g packets of plain salt chips ....

So. There you have it.

Quick question - if I book two rooms as a Diamond member for the same hotel and dates, can my friends staying in the second room also use my Diamond benefits?

You might get lucky, or find you get special handling for some of the benefits, but likely not all. I recently stayed at a CP with 2 rooms booked and they made it clear I could only get the b'fast benefit for one room, for example, but did upgrade the second room to a higher category for me.

Unlikely - policy is the benefits apply to 1 room (the one the diamond member is staying in); but you get the discount rate for both rooms.

As a Diamond I booked two rooms at Crowne Plaza Hobart last December (one on points and one using cash). One room got an upgrade, welcome chocolates etc and the other nothing.

I gave the upgrade to my parents, and I took the regular room. But then they wanted to only give me 1 free breakfast (even though both rooms were booked with a rate that included breakfast they said using points negated that for one room). I argued I should get 2 free breakfasts per Diamond membership as the room getting my upgrade benefit had 2 people, and the paid room was inclusive of breakfast. They relented and got 3 complimentary breakfasts.

Had they stuck to the story of points room being ineligible for breakfast I was going to ask for my complimentary breakfast to be on the points room for me and say my parents ended up taking the paid room which included breakfast.

Also i got the bonus points for not getting my room serviced daily but was told if my parents opted for no housekeeping i would not get those points. So they had their room tidied daily.

The only reference in the IHG T's & C's regarding multiple rooms seems to be this:
Multiple Members Staying in Room: Only the Member whose name and IHG Rewards account number are on the reservation record will be awarded Points and Qualifying Night (a single night during a Qualifying Stay) credit toward achieving Elite-level status or other promotional goals, and only that Member will receive in-hotel Member benefits. For the avoidance of doubt, if more than one Member stays in a room, only one of the Members will be awarded Points and/or benefits, as long as all other conditions for such award of Points and/or benefits are satisfied.
And for status benefits, the breakfast welcome amenity specifcally notes it is "daily free hot breakfast for two" with no reference to the 2 people staying in the same room. Not sure if room upgrades would apply to up to 9 rooms.

Yes, London rates are crazy at the moment! But glad you got the upgrade, club access and water.

My experience at Hunter Valley NSW.

My family members attending a wedding in the region, that I personally wasn't attending.

One room at Crowne Plaza, and one room at Kirkton.

I paid for both, using my name and account. I registered my family members as secondary persons staying in the room.

At both hotels ( same day of check in ), my relatives checked in with no issues.

Both hotels provided the Diamond benefit of full buffet breakfast to my family members concurrently staying at the two hotels.

The Kirkton provided a room amenity of a pack of luxury toiletries.
The Crowne Plaza gave nothing.

I received Reward Points to my account, for both properties.

Has anyone stayed at Crowne Plaza Canberra or Hobart recently?
Canberra (last week sadly) and Hobart (Jan, honeymoon).

TBH I prefer the HIE in Newcastle :) (and I'm a Diamond Ambassador or Ambassador Diamond 🤷‍♂️)

Canberra
Pluses: location (pretty much in the centre of Cbr), welcome, upgrade, free b'fast, check-out
Negs: rate (insane), old/dated room (you'd think they'd start refreshing them given the number of hotels opened/opening in Cbr -- are jet baths still a thing?)

Hobart
Pluses: upgrade, free b'fast
Negs: location (for where we needed to go), entry/parking/exit, welcome (given club access bc it was our honeymoon and then downgraded when they realised I wasn't Ambassador -- that started 1 Feb -- seemed a bit petty), additional charges on the folio (successfully reversed), generally all a bit confused (but maybe that's Hobart/Tas?)

Yes, Canberra CP back in March.
Room itself was ok-ish, but bathroom was very dated (eg in bath shower with shower curtain). Breakfast was average. Unless rate is very cheap, not recommended.
Agree with the above, they gave my family free breakfast (family of 4) being a Diamond Elite.

Not recently but have stayed a number of times. Very comfortable and of course right downtown and 10 mins walk to the waterfront. Nice outside bar on L4 ( check in and restaurant level).

Parking is bad. Very Limited space for dropping off bags - you may need to find a parking meter. Park in a commercial multi level 10-15 mins walk away, with discounts but discount didn’t work when I used it.

We had no problem unloading bags from the Uber or into Taxi out the front of the Hobart CP.

Sure cabs are pretty good at drop offs. I was talking about driving yourself and parking yourself 😊

If the CP drop off space is occupied, there’s nothing else and a single lane, busy street.

Single lane yes, busy street, not by mainland standards.

The concierge was making sure the drop off/pick up spot wasn't occupied for more time than necessary.
