I am in MEL J lounge until QF691 boards a bit after 1600.

Now, before you judge me, there are currently ZERO daily QF flights to MEL!

At least we now know you are able to use the J lounge if flying JQ with QFF status.
Aust domestically flown JQ sectors anyways.

Was always possible AFAIK.

Only change during Covid was access on arrival flying JQ, some QF Dom lounges didn’t allow but should be back to normal now.

This has always been the case. You are conflating the opening hours issue - QF lounges will not open early or stay open late for JQ departures, but if the lounge is open, JQ pax with status can enter.

Just spoke to the lovely lounge agent at SYD regarding re-opening of spaces. Does not seem like J and QP will be separated imminently although that is contingent on what happens with border openings to WA & QLD (at least in SYD). They are looking at instead transitioning the lounge to the QP and offer the J food/drink down there for the larger space.

J lounge relatively busy now with limited spare seats.

P.S. the CL lounge door opened as I walked past...if only could sneak in there

Thanks for the intel. I will be in SYD in over an hour and hopefully it empties a bit.

Only J lounge open at MEL but not busy the past hour. Two hot non soup dishes ... chicken and chicken. Chef was brilliant in whipping up for me the laksa noodles without chicken.

I've had the CL lounge doors open when I've walked past a few times recently but no one was in view :-|

Good news from MEL dom J. J and QP are now both open from today as they're expecting an uptick in visitors over the coming weeks

Some spring rolls being handed out too which aren't bad for an afternoon snack.

I think the Qantas Club in CBR is still closed, but that’s normal for the Christmas holidays. Other than that, yes.
