I'm in the QF Lounge thread

Can't wait till the works at QF QP BNEd are complete.
Very noisy and can feel vibrations.
They haven't as yet (today ) partitioned off areas.

BKK CX* lounge until 1535 (i.e. another hour)

*for lack of a QF lounge.

Quite a nice lounge, I thought!

And they even filled one of their small water bottles with wine to take on board my dry (even in J-class) MH dinner flight to KUL.

A fellow passenger & I were talking on our flight and the subject of Qantas Lounge Access came up.
He said that he had recently been in the QF Lounge in Perth and was surprised to see many men lying out sleeping on chairs and lounges around 9.00pm of an evening.
My guess is that they were FIFO workers waiting for an early morning flight to their work sites. He said that Qantas Lounge staff did not seem to mind this and did nothing to bring these people into line with QF policy by reminding them of the rules.

My fellow PAX also mentioned that he thought that some QF Lounges have taken it upon themselves to have different rules according to the Lounge Managers.
He said that on a recent QF flight back into Melbourne, arriving around 5.30am, although a QF Club member, he was refused entry.
He told me was informed that as he was arriving and not departing, then entry was not permitted to him or his guest.
I thought that when I was working full time and flying with QF as a QC member, I could go to the lounge either departing, in transit or on arrival.
Have the rules changed ?
My advice to him was to take this up with QF at the highest possible level. After all membership does not come cheaply.

10.1 Subject to these Terms and Conditions, Qantas Club Members are entitled to access the Qantas Club lounge in the departure port when the Member's next onward flight on that day is with Qantas, QantasLink or Jetstar.

So, it seems that the game has changed and even at 5.30am, after a red eye from Perth, that my fellow pax was referring to, he was refused entry at Melbourne.
I would hardly have thought that the lounge would have been very crowded at that time of day.

If I was a QF Club member, I think that I would not be renewing if this is going to be the norm.
Maybe Qantas either needs to increase their lounges capacity or introduce a paid per entry rather than an open door for departing pax only.
I do not know the solution, but it is an another example of the Qantas brand being diminished for me.

It has been the case for quite a few years that QP members don't have arrival access. I joined in '07 it was the case then.

Oh, I am in various HKG *O lounges until 1930.
