I'm in the QF Lounge thread

Hi ya :) anyone in the Canberra Qantas lounge. Stuck with 5 hr delay even with flex ticket. Sorry if posting this is not ok. Cheers, Jon

So, it is offical, my friend rang me today to say that he has received in writing from Qantas, notification that the company will not allow arriving passengers, regardless of the time of arrival, access to a lounge unless they are in transit on an on-going QF or OW carrier the same day.
It says that the lounges are for departing passengers only.
The game has changed, because I used to fly to Europe quite a bit when working full time and on arrival at Heathrow, early AM it was good to freshen up with a shower and breakfast.
On returning to SYD or Melbourne, the same would apply.
Though I rarely had time to use the lounges on departure, working up until the last minute.
I guess that unless the QF Club and Business Class members etc want to apply pressure to Alan Joyce to change this situation, nothing will happen.
I am not affected as I do not travel as much as before, but I do think it poor on the part of Qantas to have this restriction.
As for the other carriers, I am unaware of their policy, as I have generally flown Qantas out of loyalty.
How do the AFF members feel about this & do they think that Qantas Club Membership in order to use the Lounges is still good value ?
( that is if they pay membership themselves and not their employers ).

This has been the case for a number of years hasn't it?

Only WP still gets on arrival access AFAIAA
