after a long workday (2am start) and a cancelled flight, ended up spending 7 hours at the cairns lounge, i drank nearly every different type of beer they had, including the new Crown,,,

At least you weren't at ABX where there is no lounge... I arrived there to check in for my afternoon flight to SYD to find that the morning flight was delayed 5 hours due to fog and managed to get on it. The passengers on the morning flight received a $8 refreshment voucher for use at the Uiver Café & Bar. There's free WiFi in the terminal as well. I quite like the airport!

Beer? Too easy. Ask for different beer each time and you would be right.

With what I've experienced, I'd say they're pulling your leg! OOL and SYD have allowed me to get multiple drinks for travel buddies several times in a row

Definitely. Guy behind me Friday successfully had four Peroni's poured whilst joking that it was "his round".

Yes ... My dad arrives from cfs 5pm and then 4 and a half hours - hope the lounge staff dont mind.

MKY lounge on Friday, from around 8:20am till departure to BNE, returning on Sunday morning, so back in that lounge at 6am.... Shame ROK doesnt have one or TSV. doing ROK - BNE on the 21st and 25th.

Incidentally, anyone know what the Mackay lounge is like?

Smallest VA Lounge of the set, as expected; It's the same as every other lounge, with half-view of the tarmac, can be abit of a Zoo if both BNE/SYD flights are leaving.
Have to use the terminal bathrooms, it's that small. But having sat in the ROK Terminal for over an hour on my trip over earlier this year, the lounge does indeed trump waiting with everyone else
