I'm in the VA Lounge thread

I hedged my bets, cut my losses and switched over to Qantas.

Couldn't take a chance on my flight any more. QF533 boarding in 20 mins

Oh, go on Poochie, have another ham and cheese toastie. When all else fails in the Virgin lounge, have a toastie, even if it's the 789th you've had this year. And if you only spread one sachet of butter on each bread slice, your cholesterol will probably stay static. If you do 1.5 to 2 sachets to each slice, either it or that slightly dodgy looking ham will quite possibly kill you.

And a toastie helps soak up that slightly acidic sauv blanc they serve there

P.S. I'll be in the VA lounge in Perth around 4.30 - 5.00pm on Monday 30.06 if anyone wants to check out the sauv blanc there

For I hate the Tulla Freeway...
If you haven't been to the VA PER lounge, be ready to be shocked.
Past security, don't go up escalators or lift, veer left.
If you have been there, have "fun".
I don't like the VA PER lounge.
Why opaque windows? What are Perth Airport or VA not wanting us to see?

In CBR lounge now. Didn't realise before but there are only 2 computers for guests to use, both in a little 'phone booth' room adjacent the toilets.

Im normally on my phone (rather than a lounge PC) in the VA lounge but today I wanted to do something on the bigger screen. But there is some sort of meeting occurring in the booth, they aren't even using the PCs. A couple of things:

1. Can this 'meeting room' be booked for exclusive use ?

2. Even if it cant, the setup really means that access to the PCs is quite restricted. Why not have a few more computers out in the main lounge which is usually only 25% full whenever I have seen it.

Just missed you samas, if anyone can guest me into VA ADL it would be appreciated (I have a Rex flight leaving at 1600)

My VA flight got cancelled this morning Per-Mel, Man their service recovery is ****

And unfortunately you don't find out about their lack of customer service until you need help. Hope everything worked out OK.

My post in the "do pax have the right to know reason for delays" thread
checked in at the lounge right on the normal boarding time (also shown on the display). I was very polite and friendly the whole interaction with lounge staff. I asked if the service was on time ? Perfunctory reply was yes, no smile the whole time, had a real "get outta my face" vibe...

... its a minor inconvenience, but the lounge staff member could give half a stuff and just know which services are a few (in this case about 40) mins behind sched.

What a difference a day makes, that was yesterday... tonight's CBR lounge angel couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.

Sure hope that in future she is rostered when I fly. Also restored my faith in VA customer service after a few recent bad examples.

Lets start a petition for something other than ham sandwiches,,,, some shredded chicken or roast beef would be nice editions.

I actually quite like the older style lounges like Perth. Unlike the Sydney lounge Perth doesn't look like a plastic surgeon's waiting room

To Wetherex posted above .... Pizza gets my vote

SO you like the opaque covering that the VA PER lounge has, that you can't see through?
I in fact like the VA SYD lounge!
Must remember though, that a lot of these lounges are retrofitted AN Golden Wing lounges of long ago, "dead buried cremated"... lounges.
And yes, I was around during the heady Ansett days.
AN's tie in with SQ was a great thing, that one. Better than this play around that VA has with SQ. VA should join *Alliance and get it done with, once and for all.

Aye, Wetherex, we should do that.
But what we need first, and foremost, and no sleight to the Muslims, or other religions that find ham not allowed, ie, the Jewish religion, what we need is for someone high up, to say that eating ham is against their beliefs.
Someone lets say, like the PM or Deputy, or Opposition Leader, or someone.
But there is always that fatty potato salad, (eh-droll humour)!
I found some and had 2 apples.
I am surprised though, but I guess you get what you pay for, that all throughout the day, they serve the same white bread, whole grain bread, and brown bread, and that "poor" toaster works all day to churn out toast.
And not to mention, that the cheese is now cut into half a square, so it becomes an oblong, (make it go further!).
$855 for the QP really is $$$, but for the differences, wow, QP is much better.
Also get lounge access internationally, unlike VA where you only get lounge access domestically, unless you always fly business class as a VFF and fly with NZ for Koru access.
