Instant IHG Diamond Status by Registration

I was upgraded to a Club room at IC Adelaide when I was there for a week in August, which included free breakfast (which was pretty average) and the usual Club soiree...

Has anyone tried to purchase Ambassador for the first time or renew their membership too see if they get their Diamond status extension?

That was working until a few weeks ago. All the latest reports are that it has stopped working

Understood, just want to confirm from someone in this community who may have purchased Ambassador since the article was published.

Did anyone have luck of achieving the Diamond status by registering for Ambassador program in the past few weeks ? I searched everywhere but could not find any reference.

Appreciate any pointers or inputs as I plan to book some weekend nights at IC Melbourne and it will be good to have the status. Ta

Signing up for IC AMB never granted the Diamond Elite level, it simply extended it by another year. You did need to have earned that Diamond status (or be matched, etc.) at some point in the past, to play the game. In any event; it's over now.

If/when you sign up as an IC AMB you will get IHG Platinum Elite status and benefits as standard, as well as the IC-only Ambassador benefits, of course. These are generally worth it if you'll stay in IC properties a bit, as they are guaranteed, and with those and the free weekend night voucher, it's pretty easy to make up for the initial outlay of cash or points.

Cheers,
Matt.

Not disagreeing (by earlier reports) but aren’t we still waiting for an AFF’r to confirm their existing Diamond hasn’t been extended by renewal or uptake?

Or has that been convincingly confirmed elsewhere (eg FT)?

Yes, possibly - but yet to see a positive report anywhere about it [still] working, so not expecting much.

Quite a few data points on FT pointing to it no longer working
