Instant IHG Diamond Status by Registration

They are running a fast track offer currently too. Register by April 30th and you have 90 days to stay 2 nights to get Gold until the end of 2024 or stay 5 nights and get Platinum until the end of 2024

Any link to share?

And also there for those interested there is an earn 2000 points every two night stay on. I don’t have a link, was emailed directly about that one.

As an aside, I actually didn’t realise how generous their earn rate is with QFF until I glanced at my activity statement recently 😆

It’s on their main page

My ambassador needs to be renewed this month so Diamond should be fine until the end of the year.

Do some rooms qualify for more than one "qualifying night"
No but some rooms qualify for more qualifying points.
first when you are making a reservation sometimes you will get a message about extra points. For example I have just booked the Kimpton in Bangkok for 5 nights and could buy 1000,3000 or 5000 extra points per night. Unlike just buying IHG points these points qualify as qualifying points. So 5000 per night was 800 baht ~ $A 34. so for $170 I have got 25% of the points needed to requalify Diamond for next year.
Also you can book up to 3 rooms. You will only get qualifying nights for 1 room but qualifying points for 3 rooms so I am shouting my family 3 nights in the IC Tokyo for Christmas. That with my other bookings will basically get me over the line to have diamond in 2024.

Now also have got the extra points for a 3 night stay in the CP Gold Coast. 5000 points cost $19. so for 24 nights just those bonus points will get you over the line for diamond at a cost of $456. Of course you have to pay for the room but that also gives you qualifying points. so couldn't be bothered working out how many nights with bonus points you need to get to the 120000 points for diamond but less than 20 for a total cost of ~$6000 plus you get a 3 week holiday on the Gold Coast.

My IHG m’ship says my Diamond ‘runs out’ at end of 2022, but still shows as diamond today. Not an IHG user really, Is that normal, could I maybe rely on it for a bit longer maybe even until my May stay? 😀

If you spend US$200 to buy Ambassador, you should be able to extend Diamond until 2025(?). Plus get a free weekend IC stay voucher.

Apologies for the rooky query , I am Platinum Elite and have two upcoming stays in UK and France. If I happen to buy the Ambassador program , does it give me Diamond status and any other benefits.

No purchasing Ambassador membership at the moment is because many got instant diamond status late last year and purchasing ambassador prolonged the expiry date.
Just purchasing ambassador status gives you platinum status.

The renewal of Ambassador Membership resulting in an extension of Diamond out to 2024 sounds like a glitch to me that isn’t what IHG intends. It certainly isn’t in the Ambassador T&C’s.

Does anyone know if IHG will actually honour this after 1st March?

Of course it's a glitch.

No one knows if it'll be honoured or not. It's like asking an airline if they'll honour a mistake fare. Some do, some don't.

But IHG's IT systems are notoriously bad, so there's a good chance they will as a result of their sheer incompetence.

The effect of extending status (previously Spire) has been going on for years,

Also Platinum obviously but IHG have always had some method of buying status year after year. Back in “Priority Club“ days, Gold could be bought for something like US$50 pa but you’d rarely drop below Gold even if you didn’t stay enough…

I was one of those who took advantage of the instant Diamond thing IHG did a few weeks ago. My Diamond status is showing as valid until 31/12/22 but I'm still showing as Diamond. I understand that'll all change on 1 March.

If I've understood correctly, there's some kind of perfectly legitimate loophole where I can pay USD200 to get Ambassador status which will extend my Diamond status until 31/12/24. The Ambassador benefits page says it Ambassador only gives you Platinum, but I'm guessing part of the loophole is you keep Diamond.

I am struggling a bit to understand the justification for spending USD200 for what appear to be limited IHG-wide benefits, the Diamond level not really giving much, but I'm open to persuasion. Is there anything I'm missing?

For USD200, you get a free weekend night certificate (due to Ambassador status) and breakfast at IHG properties (due to Diamond status).
and effectively Diamond to Mar 2025?
