Instant IHG Diamond Status by Registration

I signed up for this promo and have since stayed 10 nights at IHG hotels. My Diamond status has now been extended until 31 December 2023.

I have been enjoying the free breakfasts

Hopefully some upgrades along the way?

I have my 1st stay tonight since signing up and I can see the room has gone from “Carpark” to Lake View. Mind you, as a Plat I normally received upgrades but I’ll start to see direct payback on US$200 for Ambassador with 2x2 free breakfasts…

Yes, I have got a couple of upgrades (at hotels where a better room than booked was available). E.g. last weekend I get a complimentary upgrade to a suite at Holiday Inn Lisbon.

Yep. For a few days, I thought mine was showing “rollover nights” since I was already confirmed AMB/Diamond to Dec 23 but nup, they’re gone now…

For those that haven't bought Ambassador to extend their Diamond Elite status to end of 2023, do it right now and it will extend to end of 2024.

This presumably works best for someone who’s just qualified/requalified Diamond (or Platinum) thru to Dec 2023 and AMB carries that forward? Is there cutoff for it to work?

For someone like me who bought AMB (for the first time) not that long ago and currently Diamond to Dec 2023, I guess I just wait until closer to the end of year to renew my AMB?

Mine has updated and diamond until Dec. 2023.
So I will aim at getting to 40 nights close to years end so that I can have 12 months of lounge access from then.

It works the best for someone who qualified for free Diamond Elite last year (with expiry Dec 2022) because those people still have Diamond Elite status. Presumably they will lose it in the next few days or weeks, but it can be extended for 2 years if you act fast.

Presumably very fast if the system is locking in 2023 status.

Yeah, I’d be interested to hear if the window is still open for someone now (or who did post 31 Dec) and then I might look at the 1 Jan 24 route. But you’d be pev’d if the difference between renewing on or before 31 Dec 23 v 01 Jan 24 was Diamond v Platinum….

Tricky for me.
I have the free Diamond expiry 12/22 but had bought AMB in April 22. Still not used the BOGOF.
Just took advantage of free breakfast in CP CBR today which was unexpected.
How early can you renew AMB?

Sweet hack levelnine. Did you have this gem stored away in your back pocket or discover it by accident? Most Diamonds would have purchased/renewed AMB prior to calendar EOY.

Was it instant for you? I just bought the Ambassador now but mine still shows the 2022 expiry.

Edit: nvm, it just updated now! Such a nice hack. Thanks a lot! I only got to stay 2 nights last year, so I was ready to lose the Diamond status and this came just in time
