Two reports of success on FT. I might move an upcoming stay to burn some points at an IC and roll the dice on this myself...

I know we tend not to post FT links on here but would you consider so we can review the circumstances? I don’t even know you could renew at a hotel!

Interested too! My Diamond will expire in 2024 and thinking if it can be extended to 2025 if I renew in January.

Having to go to a IC would be a kerfuffle for me because the nearest is Sanctuary Cove, but if a kerfuffle is required…

I agree that is my nearest IC as well. I never go there but I do have to use my free night this year and I was thinking of the Sanctuary Cove IC, if I can still get the availability. It is about an hour away from me.

Mine's not up for renewal until end of March (nearest IC is Sydney)

Follow with interest, I am still in 2 minds about extending Ambassador, as I don't usually stay at ICs as typically we travel as a family of 4 and need two double beds. But I did use the BOGOF voucher at IC Budapest this year with the River View room, and the view was terrific, not to mention the free breakfast for all of us as the family of 4 as Diamond.

So, I won't be trying this myself at an upcoming IC stay. I won't quite hit 40 nights despite being targeted with a double nights promo, so it will be interesting to see if there's a soft landing (I expect so). Otherwise, will wait until the next time I'm staying at an IC to take ambassador out again.

I'm at IC Melb now...was going to renew Ambassador status when I checkout but I guess won't bother now as it won't extend my IHG Diamond status for another year.

I renewed my AMB yesterday (deadline was 01 Dec). Received bonus 15k pts but no change to Diamond status (as expected). 15K bonus posted almost immediately.

Still the option to “buy” Diamond.. After my recent stay, it’ll be A$2060 for 110,000 status (and reward) points…

If you stay at IC a lot, yes. 4 p.m. checkout and $25 food and beverage credit are my favourite perks.

The free night weekend certificate at a nice IC pretty much covers the points or $200 USD.
