Intentionally triggering a targeted 50% bonus SC promo

For what it's worth, my partner's offer came in just 4 months into her membership year, and mine came in 6 months through mine. I wasn't able to draw a correlation between membership anniversary and targeted offer date.

So it may be that we are looking for a simple answer to an issue where there isn’t a single one. In the meantime searching like crazy.

I was able to intentionally trigger and receive an offer this morning. Here's what I think worked:

• Searched a direct QF metal route
• Logged in on both platforms
• Searched on both desktop and mobile
• Proceeded beyond 'Add to Cart' to the passenger detail confirmation page (but not payment page)
• Continuous searches over three-four days

Note: I searched SYD-LHR for June but the offer is only for flights before May, to be booked in the next six days.

I got one or two offers in the last year but never on dates that suited me. One interesting thing I noticed from @sbor90 was visiting Air NZ website which I never tried. That would fit in with the logic of giving it to people who actually need an incentive to book Qantas.

I am resigned to not getting them so am getting creative to get extra SCs. I booked my half-yearly holiday to South Africa at the 12 days of Christmas sale. Got a return J ticket for $4.5k - reasonable; will probably be my last 747 flight am going upper deck way over and 1A on the way back. I get 320 SCs return but by including JNB-CPT Comair in the same itinerary I get an extra 60 SCs each way so end up with 440. Was able to include them seemingly at no extra charge.

The status credits flying J with Comair are good value in my opinion!

It did appear I could book any flights with a QF number to get teh 50% extra SC.

Here's the kicker, I have not searched a flight on Qantas.com in at least 6 weeks. Maybe they figured I needed a nudge!

Have you (or a travel agent on your behalf) booked any one-ways ex PER recently? Not necessarily on the Qantas website.

I wonder if they're trying to secure your business for the return leg.

No, I literally have no plans for travel til late Feb that I will book soon but have not yet searched for.

My FF year ends Feb 28, I do not need any more SC this year, comfortably retaining gold but nowhere near platinum. Just about to hit lifetime silver and shoot me if I keep going long enough to get lifetime gold so really not fussed about the extra SC.

I found it interesting as a mate was hanging out for DSC promo but I told him to keep searching the flights he needed hoping to trigger a targeted offer. Wait until I tell him I got one after no acttivity.

No, didn't receive that email. I usually only receive that email when I get to the payment page. Received the 50% offer without needing to get to that page (only the page for passenger details, seat selection etc.)

I just did some more searches for flights to LHR, and I selected "watch this fare". Will see what happens.

I've recently triggered QF with this, as well... I'd seen it happen a handful of times in the past, even when DSCs were being given out to all and sundry, but this is the first 'BSC' (Bonus Status Credits - not necessarily double SCs) offer I've had in some time.

I was performing a search of fares for my boss, to DFW and also PHL, on the 21st January, and tried a few combinations and dates, all for mid-February. Nothing was booked - he just wanted a quick indicator from his resident travel guru. 7 days later on the 28th January I received an e-mail from Qantas with the subject "Fly to Dallas Fort Worth, get 50% more Status Credits". Coincidence? I think not.

Thankfully, the ONLY reference to Dallas is in the subject line, and it is open to all QF marketed flights (QF flight numbers), and so while I'm not headed to the U.S., I am planning some INT travel for March, and will now likely take advantage in the period.

Elsewhere on aff someone posted the link they received from qantas with this offer and so I clicked the link and got a page from qantas saying ‘congrats you’re eligible for 50% status credits ...’
I didn’t make a booking but I wonder if I had done whether I’d get the bonus credits.

The link is specific to the receiver's Qantas account. Clicking it is making them eligible for the bonus SC, not you.
