Received my text at 5.30pm yesterday confirming my upgrade to J on QF1 this afternoon. Flight is very full so thought I was going to miss out. Very happy!!! Looking forward to my first visit to the Sydney Flounge.

Has anyone ever scene this before. I am booked on QF009 MEL-SIN and then QF001 SIN-LHR on Tuesday both in C class - They were both appearing as Flight segment 6 in this booking yesterday.

When I logged on today there is now a flight segment 7 in the booking which was my original QF009 flight in C showing confirmed and the original flight segment 7 has now been changed to QF009 that is waitlisted in P class with the original QF001 in C class which is still confirmed.

Interesting that the P class flight still says an upgrade to first has been requested next to it despite it being from a first class booking inventory. No points have been deducted yet so we will see what happens.

Yes, this happens with most upgrade requests.

QF009 upgrade text came through at 11:20 will now need to keep fingers crossed for QF001. SEATS 1K,2F,2K,4A,5A are available to choose from. I am currently in 4A but I have heard that 5A is slightly bigger. What would others here choose?

I'd go 1K out of those seats. 5A is a baby bassinet seat so bigger storage. I thought it was a little too close to the galley and noisy as a result.
Mind you if that was the only seat available then I would take it :D

Thanks everyone - QF001 upgrade came through at 09:15 this morning. Only seats left were 1K,4F,5A,5F so I have selected 1K. Have changed seat over to 2K at this stage to mix it up.

Opups to F on both directions SYD-JNB last week. That's what I call an improved experience!!!

This may be my last o/s business trip for a while so wanted to try First on the A380

As you say it is a light load so think chances are good

Has anyone noticed a slipping of the improvement. When the international experience "improved" Platinum upgrades seemed to be actioned within 30 minutes of T-48 hours. I am watching 2 upgrade requests (Y-J) - both with Plats in the PNRS and there is no movement - no waitlisting or anything and we are approaching T-44 hours. I watched the same flight yesterday for Friday and there also seemed no movement at T-48. There was however plenty at T-24. I am wondering whether things have quietly slipped back to everything (other than P1s) being done at T-24? Any thoughts?

Depends on loading maybe? I got a J-F upgrade confirmed at almost T-48 exactly a couple of weeks ago.

Loadings were fine for an upgrade yesterday and today. I'm more concerned that the usual waitlisting and other things that one sees aren't there which may mean that they are not even trying to upgrade platinum passengers.

For people who have QF bookings with points upgrade requests -

I made an international booking this week and put in for a points upgrade J- F. As part of the process, the system asked me whether I also wanted to be considered for an upgrade at the airport if it did not come through earlier. I haven't seen that question before.

I have another booking in the system which was made several months ago (July I think), with an upgrade request in it. I just rang QF and asked if I was in the lottery for an upgrade at the airport on that earlier booking.

The answer was no, if you have an existing points upgrade request and when making the request you did not get asked the question about an upgrade at the airport, you need to ring QF to get it added to your request that you also want to be considered for an upgrade at the airport.

Have to agree with improved experience - QF51 BNE-SIN on Sunday, op up to Y+. Was given Y+ boarding pass when checking in bags at SYD.

Fingers crossed for QF2 tomorrow night.
