iPhone / iPod Touch applications?

The battery is the biggest issue with the iPhone but I am rarely more than 6 hours away from a charger so I dont see it as a major trauma.

MrP - apart from the battery - do you have any other issues with it?

I must admit, it is growing on me - like a fungus - however, my next gripe is the bluetooth...

Oh well, the apps I have downloaded are fun

FWIW.. Mine pairs nicely to my Sportwagon, BT headset and car kit. I think it's best if you start with a fresh phone i.e. restart it then pair it. And contrary to what people are saying it IS fully functional Bluetooth - the only thing it doesnt support is file transfer.

Which is the main thing I use Bluetooth for on a phone, so it's not fully functional then :p

Mr!

Those apps can really suck out the power.

Another power saving suggestion is turn down the screen brightness and turn off the automatic wifi so that will stop searching for a wifi signal that you probably couldn't access anyway.

Really? I've always found BT file transfer on phones pretty hokey and tediously slow.

The Air Sharing app connects over a WiFi network and does a far better job - at worst all you need to do is set up an adhoc WiFi network on your computer and connect your iPhone to it.

I have to say though, would it kill Apple to allow developers to access the WiFi/BT/Push/Brightness controls so that someone can make a power saving app, to avoid the multiple menu navigating required to turn these services off and on? Seems like a pretty straightforward thing to do, but for some reason Apple's not opening it up.

What a great idea... Its a shame that they also don't make a profiling app either. Although it shouldn't suprise us as we did have to wait a few years for MMS! Like you DJFUZZ, I would rather connect a cable as its faster and I get that all important bit more charge!

In my defence though, it is fully functional bluetooth, its just missing a few features... Its like saying that a base model commodore isn't fully functional but a top of the range is...

My great life has me sitting in a restaurant in Sydney posting to aff... Hmmm go figure...
Ok, this post is coming from my iPhone, good job so far...
The new iPhone as I said in last post is growing on me, but.... Regardless of the helpfull info, I couldn't get the bt to work.

Umm, you know when I'm at the family BBQ and my cousin asks me to BT that family picture to his nokia, I just don't think of setting up an adhoc wifi network using my computer. Probably because I don't usually have my computer or a WAP

Same ,same when in music shop and a stranger asks me to BT a phone ring tone.

Of course, having MMS now is the answer to this problem. [/aside] I could not believe the number of people on whirlpool defending the absence of MMS

Interesting - I don't have many cousins who can actually get BT working on their phones, and then bother to go to the trouble of doing anything with the coughpy quality photos or ringtones stuck on their phones. Emailing generally seems to be more within their reach on the other hand.

MMS is meh to be honest. It's nice that it's there now for completeness, but for me it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever - other than yet another way for telcos to stick their hands in your pockets. Its days are limited once mobile broadband and email go mainstream, which is pretty much already upon us (and, to be fair, reliable and long-lasting push notification, which is not entirely there yet).

I can't recall the last time I used MMS myself, so I can't say I was desperately waiting for that feature. It's certainly been implemented nicely though.

Just for peoples interest the latest update boosts signal power and some early 16gb iphone's will die (no single or signal only sometimes).
Seems Apple is checking serial and replacing even if not in warranty.

Since i don't own an iPhone no favorite apps. I needed GPS and only now finally is there any decent turn by turn GPS. Next phone it will be considered for sure.

I use MMS on a daily basis almost. mrssimongr grabs a cute pic of the little fella and it is on my phone in 30s. I am out shopping for stuff and can't choose between the two outfits for the little guy and I get the verdict quick smart ;)

And if a stranger asked me for my ringtone - I would just keep walking :p

To be homest, I either don't use it or I use it flat out for the above reasons. Although insert MrsGurio looking for yet another black pair of shoes/black dress instead of the little fella. And in all my years I have never had a stranger come up to me and ask me that ever!

I have a $79 cap with $650 of included costs - not really an issue for me.

I prefer to use MMS as it maintains the conversation flow in the message app - which I really like.

Just found another neat APP - "My Flights" - using an Amadeus booking reference it keeps a check on your upcoming bookings.

Only good for Amadeus booking (which most of us use anyway).

hmm, well I do have family that don't have iphone and do want to have pictures that I take with iPhone to use as the phone wallpaper or whatever. They certainly don't rush down to Harvey Norman get prints of my (low quality) photos

You also miss the point about MMS, it is the legacy app. Most of my family don't have iphone or even phones with email. MMS is the way to transfer that works for them. It is all about cross platform compatibility. (Also my bro in germany, without email capable phone, being able to send pictures of my nephew, or a nice weisbeir) (edit: besides why would anyone want to be emailed a low quality photo to their computer, if anywhere the poor quality will be highlighted there)

Sounds like my ringtones are more funky then most....

set my ringtone to WARNING ALARM - hehehehe, been driving the girls in the office mad all day - I have been in meetings and left the iPhone on my desk :)

In the perfect Apple world, peoples are supposed to be emailing from iPhone to iPhone. That the same pics can be on the receivers' desktosp and phones is a good reason for using email instead of MMS.

I can upload photos directly to my blog via email to the Blogger site.

PS, I feel so old when I talk about Blogger - that was sooo 2005! How times change.
