Hi All,

I need some advice from the brains trust on this forum.

I, like many on here, have hundreds of thousands of points sitting with velocity. With the current COVID-19 situation and virgins financial position I’m concerned that if the airline was declare bankruptcy points may disappear..

What’s the likelihood of this happening and should I withdraw my points by purchasing gift cards to get some cash value at what I have..?

am I making a mountain out of a mole hill.. or is there a real threat to my velocity points been wiped out..?

I ordered an iPad air on the 17 April. I received a confirmation email when i ordered and the generic email from velocity stating that all orders prior to the store shutdown would be processed. I have had a few attempts at contacting the various companies involved (velocity, Harvey Norman, Collins Group, TNT Express, Apple) and none of these were able to give me any further information about my order.

I received the iPad today (12 May). It says it is from APL Pty Ltd in eastern Creek NSW. Ship date on the box is 8 May. It was delivered by TNT - overnight express. I was at work at the time but the delivery driver knocked on the door and then left a card ( i was able to see this through security footage). I then picked it up by taking the card to the local depot where i had to show ID and had the option to sign for it (he said i didn't have to sign if i didn't want to due to covid).

Hi everyone
Yesterday the last of all my items arrived (including a broken candle that was not In its actual packaging box (as the other similar items were), not protective wrapped - but just put loose into the parcel !!! No advice about tracking from post office paperwork in the item... that’s now all items ordered 13/4/20 (which I held little hope of getting given the subsequent events). Not sure what to do w amex velocity as points accumulating again 🤔

If i was you... not use the card - not accumulating points is a better option than earning it until the situation is a bit more clear.. it may sounds weird, but makes sense when points you might earn now may not be useful in the future

I'm still accumulating points with my Velocity Amex, and appreciate that they've deferred the fee too. I've got a few thousand points but always good to bank more, I've got some flights later this year that I'll upgrade when we can use them again.

I should've just jumped in and ordered a bunch on the same day like you did despite the restrictions!
I still was not sure if it would/had worked until today. Another 3 gift cards arrived today - presumably from my bulk order of 21 consecutive gift cards on the 15th..

As i wrote we did ours around 16th april and got ours on mothers day... so clearly unless wine store is filling certain orders faster, the post office must be sorting through and leaving some mail at the edges of room out form processing? I've had letters that were stamped recently arrive shortly, yet others earlier in the month stamped 4th april arriving 14th april. I think like a sorting room, if your package isn't grabbed and more piles up you just get pushed back more and more? Just my suspicion, but i've never seen the inside of a mailing room...

still waiting to hear if anyon ehas received goods from harvey norman who ordered around the 15th april give or take? We're heading back to work next week so worried any delivery will be left outside the front door now :(

What order date for your iphone/soundbar? And these were from harvey norman to be fulfilled correct?
ordered mine on 16th and received like 2 weeks ago. It is an iPhone. It is fulfilled by Harvey Norman commercial. Google it they have a phone number you can call. Also on your velocity order confirmation email there should be a little email under iPhone/iPad says something like customer [email protected]. you can email can contact them too.

So it seems like they are certainly fulfilling all orders that were made prior to the cut off.

Ordered an iPad on 21/4* during the great rush, and it arrived 12/5. Came directly from Apple, no receipt or packing slip whatsoever - no sign of it coming via either Velocity or HN. I was hoping to exchange it, but past experience on this thread seems to indicate that I’m stuck with it.

I also ordered something from Bose on the same day, no sign of it yet.

* Apparently it was 19/4. Time has stopped making sense to me!

mine came from apple warehouse but the order is processed by Harvey Norman commercial. They advised no exchange can only return points. So yes stucked with it. I sold mine on gumtree for cash loosing a couple hundred dollars so that was not too bad. Sold it on day one as well guess I was lucky.

Two iPhones arrived today. Ordered late on 20th. Delivery guy said he'd delivered 6 before me and about the same still to go. Which is a repeat of the last few days. All in the same generic packaging.
I should also point out I never got a confirmation email.

The mrs claimed she received no emails when she ordered her items. She has her food processor, nespresso machine and a gift card in the one order.

I got order confirmations from velocity everytime i placed an order for gift cards or my wine store. But i didn't redeem for any electronic/homeware items so i can't vouch if it is only the earlier items that generate confirm emails? Given she has no order email how will she find out her confirmation email number? She clearly must have had the order go through given a food processor has turned up , just her nespresso machine and gift card to come.

it's abit of a hit or miss - the fact they just turn up and if she didn't get a confirmation, nor is their any invoice or tax receipt inside the box... without googling the sender i wouldn't even know what it was for if ididn't know she placed an order. So i dont know how warranty issues will be processed?

But i'm getting worried as there's only 2 days left and i'm confirmed due back to the office next week. If they don't arrive by friday then it'll likely get left outside the house next week (or further) - unless we can redirect the order. THe gift card isn't an issue as it'll go into the letter box. But the fact they've been leavin gparcels outside that have 'signatur eon delivery' means their is no reprecussion with covid 19 currently. They don't even take it back to the post office for safekeeping it seems?

I googled harvey norman commercial and got stormtech distributor? 02 9710 4155 - is this the correct one to follow up on orders?

Although getting an email would've helped to even know it was coming from harvey norman.....

perhaps has anyone else ordered and received the nespresso machine - can you confirm if it was harvey norman who sent it? or is it another company?

All of our wine from 7 and 10 April has finally come to WA now. PO Tracking seemed to be hit and miss. Boxes of 6, 15 and 12 bottles in no logical order, and the last box of 6 didn't come in a Velocity marked box at all (like the others did).
One of my orders was a 'dozen gold medal French red' and I got 6 French and 6 Australian. WTF?
also my 'Beautiful Barossa Dozen' turned out to be all shiraz and not even 2 of each type but random offerings. We ordered quite early but it was not dispatched til 24 April to WA. Surely they didn't run out. Not going to complain because it took so long to get here. Hope its decent hooch.

Hello 180k Velocity Points worth of booze! 😀 Finally arrived after six weeks.

Nice stash! on another note we had our bottom shelf in the pantry full of gin, wine and spirit bottles... the front panel started falling off today.. presumably it is only for looks as it sits on the front of the shelf, but the weight i believe of the shelf may have pulled and dislodged it? Nots ure.. but i've taken all of the bottles off. your shelving looks sturdy with th elittle hole tabs haha... is that an ikea cabinet?

Looks after than a wall mounted pantry but I presumably won't cram all the bottles in there anymore (onto the floor they go!)

On an update - we received the nespresso machine today! yay! speak of the devil (so circa 15th/16th april when we put our orders in for the food processor, nespresso and $100 iconic card) finally rang the harvey norman fulfillment centre as someone suggested - they couldn't and wouldn't help me, just said goto velocity and lodge an email on the redemption and see whether they can change the delivery date. Sent the email in and lo and behold... package delivered today! So only gift cards remaining, but at least they can go into the mailbox... still no sign of any of them ... mid april ordered, so surely we should be close? Probably delayed being in WA but hope they come soon. At least all the physical items are here! woo. less paranoia of them leaving it out the front door once we get back to work.

Just curious, when VA are back up and running and let's assume Velocity doesn't change, will those who have spent points on wine/iPads/gift cards etc. resume accumulating points?

Velocity redemptions are availabel again from today so I'm going to look at upgrading some existing flights.

I personally wouldn't for a while as these points worth nothing until redeemed.. and who knows how strong this company is.. i would wait at least 12 months

My Velocity Amex will keep earning points for me, and I've got flights booked for later this year that will net some points too. Though they probably won't be able to be used to their full potential until we can freely travel again.
