Hi,

Was just looking to book a LAN Chile Sydney - Auckland return flight post April 2012 but both the LAN Chile website and Expedia say that the flight doesn't exist. Does anyone know if this is just a glitch or if it is a schedule change?

I vaguely recall something like this happening one in the past also. They were just a little slow putting the flights in.

They were just a little slow putting the flights in.

They're notorious at being slow on may things - SC/points posting would be at #1.

However I'm seeing availability SYD-AKL-SYD in J with an example date of 15MAY12 and returning 17MAY12.

It looks to be only 6x a week from the 1st of April until the 30th of June.

Flights are definitely in the GDS well into SEP 2012. For a couple of months they don't fly on Wednesday but back to daily from June.

Just checked the dates I am interested in and today, the flights are now showing. LAN Chile must have just been having a bad day yesterday... Thanks to all those who responded.

LAN often drop a flight per week when they do maintenance on the 340 as they only have a small fleet so don't have the capacity to cover the 7th day if one goes off line.

I have been looking at LA flights between NZ and Oz over the December 2012 and January 2013 period, but it kept saying not available. Not sure if this means all J class seats have been booked out or? Does anyone know if LA still fly that route? Thanks.

All I know is that LAN and QF charge like bandits for this route.

I did a back to back comparison booking the route in J, same weekends. Start and book in Chile and save $5k vs start and book in Oz.

I am looking at a return trip in June and at a price in excess of $13k whether I fly LAN, QF codeshare on LAN, or the QF direct flight.

..

I totally agree. The Australia - South America route has sufferred for decades through lack of competition. You either have QF/LAN monopoly or Aerolineas (tragic alternative). God I wish a true alternative emerged. SYD - LIM Virgin?? Pipe dreams.
