Is the "Fly Ahead" benefit removal actually being enforced?

Ugh. I haven't needed to use this at all until this week, and have a flight I could have benefitted from changing one or two hours earlier - was the same price when I booked, but had a meeting cancelled.

Seems like this benefit is not really a benefit at all any more. As mentioned earlier, it could have been limited only to Platinums (which I'm not for now, but I'd have understood); the window could have been narrowed to a few hours to avoid the 'cheapest / last flight of the night' scenario; or they could have even introduced a nominal fee. As it is, they may as well just have removed it entirely and just incorporated it into their existing flexible fare structure.

Disappointed to see it go, and one less reason to bother working back towards Velocity Platinum.

Here's a self induced dilemma: I was booking 2 x flexi fares for husband (WP) and I (Red) a few weeks ago. SYD-MEL return. I wanted to use his complimentary J upgrades, but during the booking process, I actually FORGOT to include my name and details. So we ended up with 2 separate itineraries once I booked my own flight. Hubby was not amused, as he missed those precious extra bonus points on the ridiculously overpriced fares.

After a sheepish phone call Virgin graciously upgraded both of us to the J cabin no problem. But I realize that my little admin error has now eroded any chance of flying ahead, as I am not WP, nor am I on the same itinerary as my DH.

The conundrum is NOT whether Virgin will extend a gracious intervention and allow me to fly ahead with DH.

Nay, the debate is now whether my darling husband will fly ahead without me............
