I have no issue with people using the ICAO codes (YBBN, YSSY, etc), and I get how one might do it when they frequently refer to an airport in this way - ie. It is natural for them.
I did so when I first joined AFF, but others rightly pointed out that the forum 'norm' is IATA code (BNE, SYD), so I changed.
Not wanky or DYKWIA. My approach to any correspondence is to write in a way that makes the text readable for your intended audience. In pilot fora I write in ICAO, talking to military types I adjust my language. It's courteous and sensible to get your intended message across clearly.

I don't put my frequent flyer status on my business cards, it's not relevant.
I put my university degrees on my business card.
I don't put my university degrees in my profile for this forum. They're not relevant.
I do put my frequent flyer status.

I don't think this is very complicated.

I am familiar with airport codes and abbreviations for fare classes and other abbreviations such as "PAX" because I once worked in the industry, my close friends work as flight attendants and we use them constantly in our text messages. I continue to use them in my posts here because it seems to be common practice.

I've seen the DYKWIA attitude on display many times in this forum but it is not my impression that this correlates closely with mentions of status.
If I ever attain P1 I may form a different view, and I will expect the P1 care team to proactively call me and tell me what my new views are.

The only acronyms that I no longer use are WP/SG/PB/NR as I believe they are confusing to new users, and more of an in-joke from some of the older members.

Showing your status of just another way of showing you flying/forum experience, and I see nothing wrong with it

There might be times where you'd put a degree on a card... maybe if you were a psychologist or social worker... something where you could have the title but don't always need a degree to use the title. You might want to differentiate yourself from those without a degree. Or perhaps if you ran an interior design place but wanted to show you had a degree in architecture (etc).

I first got interested in FF and credit card points around 10 years ago, when I was in my late 20's. When I first met my wife, she asked what my interests are and thought I was a bit nerdy when I gave her an insight to the world of points.
We have been happily married now for 8 years and after more than 4 overseas trips to Japan, America, Europe etc in business or first and numerous domestic weekends away all on points, she thinks that my "nerdy" hobby is one of the best interests that I have,

I don't place my multiple platinum / gold tags on the outside of my carry on but I do on an "anonymous" FF forum..... why..... if a FF can't wear their strips on a FF forum, then where can they?

I'm far more interested in what they say than any AFFers details below their avatar. And if I had my way the 2-letter acronyms for (QFF) status would be WP, WG, WS and WB. We should all embrace our inner "W" and not take others' online personalities too seriously.

Someone on another forum was carrying on about how W all this was LOL

(I think "unfriendly and unfunny" were the exact words)
