"Island Dining" in the Domestic J lounges: Tips, Timing & Menus

Have spent the afternoon in the SYD J Lounge. Arrived around 3:30pm and the hot dogs were available. The sausages and rolls are definitely smaller than the Hot dogs offered in the VA Lounge. The usual condiments provided: mustard, tomato sauce, cheese, & caramelized onions. The bread roll was fairly dry, though I think I prefer these sausages compared to the large red VA ones. The sauce and mustard are now presented in a squeeze bottle, not like in the photo above.

It's after 6pm now, and the dogs have been replaced by rice and a Kenyan Lamb curry. Quite nice, and not as tasteless as the previous curry/stew style offerings.

Also, I noticed menus out on the Island Dining, with a choice of an Antipasto or Cheese platter being offered.

In MEL the pulled pork buns (diner) were still there on Friday. Then there was a (cold) tuna salad brought out at about 5-5.30pm? I noticed that the sandwich bar has replaced the crackers and dip selection :(
I haven't been there later than 6pm since Accor took over, but I have a visit on Tuesday and will be there until ~6.30pm so I'll see what hot option is brought out following the diner option.

Same pulled pork buns are here now, but there is a (non chicken) caesar salad instead of the tuna one.

Edit: Hot option is an Italian chicken with olives and capers and a butter risoni - it's OK, however I prefer the Cantonese chicken or the cacciatore (or similar)..

But the caesar salad has bacon so it was creme corn soup for me.

The Italian chicken is really nice but I am not convinced the large green olives belong there. And the risoni would be good with the creamy sauce. I dont touch the rice they served with it last week.

In the Brisbane J lounge last Friday night I was told there was no more "island dining", but a cheese plate could be requested. The "Italian chicken" was the only hot dish, and pretty gloopy, with plain white rice, and a giant bowl of "Salad Nicoise" - tuna salad with boiled eggs etc was the other main food option apart from the DIY toasties.

And then, the delights of the new Y box dinner on board, but that's another story.....

Sitting in the SYD J Lounge, I just saw that Island Dining is open for breakfast, which I'm sure wasn't the case last time I was here. Island option was Petuna smoked salmon on toasted sourdough with Meredith Goats Cheese and Dill and coffee. Quite tasty and a nice change from the usual offerings.

According to the lounge angels, Island dining is now offered for breakfast and dinner only. Maybe the enhancements are not all one way.

Mel J lounge Island Dining offering was Pancetta baked egg tart. Really just a fancy quiche Lorraine but not too bad.

Not sure what you would call Island dining these days but they were coming around with big tray last week in BNE. They had prosciutto with some fancy cheese and some salad. It was quite nice. Apparently they also had matching red wine which does not interest me.

And in SYD business lounge they had spinach and cheese triangles (very tasty and I can eat these all day) and party pies.

It always was breakfast and dinner? Never seen it for lunch before..

I hadn't seen it open for breakfast before. Certainly no printed menus and cutlery laid out but I was in the lounge after 7am today and generally I have been out the door by 6:30am. Maybe I have just been coming through too early previously.

Ok apologies to QF J lounge at Sydney

Just saw the girl bringing out smoked salmon and salad plates
