J Seat choice on A380

Ended up with 12F. happy days, now there is F9/A9 available with a few days to go...... now that would be sweet :)

Welcome to AFF :D

If those two seats are the sole options, I'd go for 18K. The bulkhead row 11 window seats are harder to access the aisle from than with the other rows (when the adjacent seat is in bed mode). I'd sacrifice Emerald City for that reason.

11B a better choice I hope?

11B > 11A ... it's close to 'a wash' but I'd probably still go for a row 18 window due to the side storage. (For me 12&13 A&K are the best of the seats.)

Don't use 11K unless you need a medical power supply.

Thanks mate. Sticking with 11B on the way over - 18K on the way back so will get a good comparison :)

My son has just been upgraded to 21F for tomorrows flight to LAX
His first trip in J, 21F was the only choice, but he will be very happy after a 12 hour shift at the hospital.

My QF18 next May just became QF12 which is a 747 + A380, JFK - LAX - SYD. There's a seat change to 12K.

So, is 12K a good seat for both flights?

5B/J are the seats for single travellers to get on the 747. You have a space beside you the side of a J seat. Basically a table for your stuff with a locker underneath.

Thanks, now that I look at it, I can't seem to split up the seat choice on the 747 from the LAX-SYD. So, perhaps stick w' 12K, or, would QF phone help be able to assist?

edit: OK phoned QF and got 5J and 12K. :D

Re: J seat choice on A 380

Quick query - is the view from row 17 overwing at all? I'm on QF7 to DFW tomorrow and 17K is about as far forward as I can currently get at present (sadly PS these days..). I do enjoy a bit of a view so prefer one with as little obstruction as possible. I've got EF seat alerts set up on anything forwards of me, and 15A/B is showing as unoccupied at present (though blocked).

Three rows only, less foot traffic, less people likely to be noisy / have lights on / have window shades open / insert preferred annoyance.......
Ah huh I thought that might be case - what about noise from bar that others have mentioned. If they are currently blocked is it worth calling QF to try to get access for rdpt bookings.

It's referred to as 'Emerald City' - as it's open for OWE and above. By the time you get to OLCI whatever's left should open up.

The 'bar' at the front, by all accounts, is rarely used.

I wouldn't call it a bar. The EK A380 has a bar while the QF A380 has a lounge and a TV. :) (check out my recent trip reports on both flights for video footage - EK F and QF J ). I wouldn't worry about any noise. :)
I suspect QF might replace it with either a proper bar, or more J seats when it comes time to refurbish the A380s.
