J Seat choice on A380

Now have 11 E on QF11 and 11F on QF 2. Happy to be not climbing over other pax and or being climbed over by them on either flight.

ok ..might have to invest in Expert Flyer to watch the seats for me, or is there another source for this, other than checking each day?

I just hit SG and thought I'd check my seat options for a flight in April - had row 13 open up to me! A big improvement over 20A I think!

Managed to get 2 business class seats to Los Angeles next Sept. Woohoo
The only seats for choice are rows 18 back.
Any recommendations we are a couple. I think I would like a window seat.

Any A/B or J/K pir would do ... with a nod to A/K so sunrise does not impinge.

Agreed.
The mini-cabin (rows 11-13)on the A380 is fair bit better and quieter. You might consider signing up for Expert Flyer the month out from Departure and set up alerts for a pair of seats in there. I think it's $10 per month if you don't want to pay the annual fee.
I find it invaluable to me

Just a query about the mini cabin (rows 11-13) - we have row 13 available to us - is that preferable to say row 16ish? I was just a bit concerned about the toilets etc there in terms of people milling and any "odours"

many thanks - appreciate your thoughts

absolutely is 13 better - the banging from the galley in 16 is frightful especially as breakfast is prepared into LAX - it was so much better when the J cabin had 4 toilets and all kitchen banging was quarantined by the toilets!

Totally agree, anything in the forward cabin is better

I'm surprised about galley noise continuing to be an issue! I think crew sometimes forget there is absolutely no need to make noise when preparing meals. A quick word to them sorts it out - although unfortunately you are already awake by then :(

Many thanks - when I looked again I had taken 19A/B (not 16) but have now grabbed the 13A & 13B. Looks great and those seats were really my initial preference but I was just feeling a little wary.

Thanks Serfty and Princess Fiona.
I selected J/K but may look at swapping to A/B.
I will also look at signing up to Expert Flyer.

Excited this is our first trip in Business ( all our travellings are self funded and we have saved our FF points - previously only in Premium economy or Economy)

All my preferred seats are taken, which one would you choose? MEL-LAX so id like some sleepy sleep :)

13F without hesitation.

Rarely does the business cabin not fill up in the days before the flight (all those spending the 72K [or 45K] points to upgrade I guess).

MEL and serfty don't be afraid to add an explanation as to why you would choose these seats so that us plebs whom sit down the back might just broaden our knowledge base!

I thought the world of the A380 forward mini-cabin ... until MEL-LAX last month and I was in 12F when not one but two groups of oafs decided to take turns to have little parties in the J 'lounge'. Sure, complaints moved them on in turn, but that was the end of any sleep...
