Sorry, also should thank all the previous posters for the information contained in this thread as I am sure that I would not have stumbled onto this without their posts.

Guys using this method of booking a JASA then "changing your flight" via a phone call to F will your flights be credited as F or J in terms of points and SCs ?

F for points + SC

I tried this on one of my HK trips coming up in June and they couldnt do it, i even got them to release a seat for award booking but they couldnt do it.. maybe i got someone who couldnt think outside the box...

Apparently QF won't release P class ASA on request. They can release P classic seats though for WP and above as already known. You may have got someone who got confused between the two and released a classic but then couldn't convert it??

All the above info is what a QF rep told me.

That sounds like an accurate assessment

I'm happy to ring up and be a guinea pig, but just want to know whether to wait for them to release of their own volition or ask. Flight is A9 F9 P0.

Won't work IME from last week. I called up to see if I could upgrade a SYD-HKG JASA.
Agent put me on hold and came back saying could request P classic award release if I really wanted to but that even if it was released to me, this was not able to be converted at any cost or points to a FASA.

So another useful feature has been QF enhanced out of existence.

Converting a "released" classic obtained by request due to WP privileges into an ASA at classic prices has never been a published benefit.

Guess I have to pray they release more P tickets closer to the flight if F remains unsold.

Exactly and never had a 100% success rate anyway.

I think I know the answer to this but is it possible to change a classic award, currently have Jon EK and have just noticed to F seats opened up on the same flight would much rather pay to upgrade to F then use points which I don't have.....

Just upgraded a JASA LHR - MEL to First for $1478.80 - 2 pax. When I tried a couple of weeks ago it was going to cost well over $2000. This is still more expensive than the $1140 it cost to upgrade for 2 on the way over though.

How long until your flight?
