Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with Monday 12, JQ8991 (B788 VH-VKK) took off at 0805 hours as a scheduled 0730 hours MEL-PUS that presumably is scheduled maintenance. This doesn't help fleet availability.

JQ8990, a 1340 hours MEL-SYD on Monday 12 September 202 must be an empty ('ferry') flight. It did not take off until 1944 with arrival showing as a prompt 2044, 334 minutes late. It may be forming JQ3, the 1630 hours SYD-HNL that is displaying as a projected 2225 hours late evening departure.

Huge thanks! I had recorded the Busan flight above, but apart from 'maintenance', didn't know exactly why it flew there from MEL the other day.

Any transport operator having more than 50 per cent of a major subfleet inoperable is in huge trouble.

There'll be understandable screams from thousands (in time) unable to get back to work in a timely fashion from an overseas holiday. Some employers may 'understand', but others may have less (or zero) sympathy/empathy.

What about disappointed children who with parents can't depart on what they thought was the first day of a long awaited holiday?

Parents with babes or toddlers find extensive delays incredibly difficult.

JQ4 ex HNL arrived in SYD tonight (Tuesday 13 September) at 1950 hours, 305 minutes late, and formed a 2150 hours 'extra', JQ1037 to DPS.

JQ1 MEL-HNL showing "On Time" status departing today at 1550 via Jetstar web status, however showing delayed to 1900 tomorrow via MEL airport departures board.

Many other similar instances around AUS...looks like Jetstar could be telling customers one thing and telling airport departures something completely different (but closer to the truth)

On Tuesday 13 September 2022, JQ1038, a 2335 special (extra) from DPS to SYD (B788 VH-VKD) was hours late so takeoff was not until 0754 on Wednesday 14, with estimated arrival becoming 1456 hours, 461 minutes later than the timetabled 0715 hours.

Recent focus has been on JQi's shocking performance including stranding passengers in Bali and elsewhere, but the domestic performance, while probably better than a month ago, remains variable.

On Thursday 16 September 2022, JQ520 with A320 VH-VQA (1615 hours MEL-SYD airborne at 1727) is arriving at about 1853, 73 minutes tardy.

The 1715 hours from BNK down to SYD (JQ461, VH-VQP) was in the sky at 1757. At 1845, it was holding west of Cessnock NSW with predicted arrival becoming 1912, 32 late.

A following flight, JQ849, the 1510 hours HTI-SYD not in the sky until 1845 is suggested as arriving 103 minutes late at 1913 with VH-XNP.

B788 VH-VKF took off from MEL on Friday 16 September at 2207 as JQ7, the 1210 hours lunchtime MEL-SIN, arriving on Saturday 17 at 0344 hours, The 2125 hours returning JQ8 was then airborne at 0537 (everyone's favourite to be checking in at 0230!) with MEL arrival this afternoon estimated at 1416 hours, 451 minutes behind the schedule.

Not only is the SYD-SGN delayed by c.22 hours until 1300 today, but today's JQ27 (1430 hours SYD up to HHKT) won't be departing until 1300 hours (lunchtime) on Sunday 18.

Saturday's JQ7 has been cancelled, as earlier was JQ1033, presumably an extra from MEL to DPS that has been scheduled for a 1000 hours midmorning pushback to clear some of the backlog in passengers.

JQ29 (1315 hours MEL-BKK) is estimated to depart at 1600 this afternoon.

On Sunday 18, JQ35, the 1300 hours SYD-MEL-DPS has been cancelled.

JQi continues to be in chaos.

Due to fly back to SIN on JQ7 next Saturday. Bad decision. Should have paid the extra $100 and booked Scoot. I have a 17 hr “connection” to FRA on SQ (separate trip, enough time though I thought to go home repack and have a nights sleep). It could be an expensive proposition if they cancel next week, have to buy whatever SQ or TR are selling tickets for instead.

On Sunday 18 September, JQ11 (B788 VH-VKH, the 0745 hours morning SYD-OOL-NRT) was still taxiing in Sydney at 1042 hours. Predictions of a '1230 hours' departure from Coolangatta are way off.

Earlier, A320 VH-VGQ on JQ119, the 0900 hours SYD-NAN was airborne at 1039 with arrival suggested as 1610 hours, 70 behind.

JQ37 (1640 hours SYD-DPS) is expected to depart at 1900.

JQ41, an occasional runner (presumably to bolster JQ43) is the 1055 hours late morning MEL-DPS expected to push back at 1315 hours.

JQ7, the 1210 hours MEL-SIn, is again delayed for a lengthy period, with today's expected to depart at 2130 mid evening.

UPDATE: JQ11 was airborne at 1045 so OOL arrival should be at 1149 hours, 164 late.

On Monday 19 September, JQ1033, a 1000 hours MEL-DPS has been cancelled.

My friends are stuck in Melbourne tonight and unable to return to Sydney until Tuesday because JQ has cancelled 4 MEL-SYD flights today (and an AVV-SYD too).

All of tomorrow's MEL-SYDs are booked out too, I assume as a result of these cancellations.

One of them will have to pay $600 for a last minute QF Flex Y tonight to get back for work tomorrow. I assume JQ is not legally required to reimburse this?

My god...WTF is happening with JQ?!!! I have a friend due to travel on JQ7 in 2 weeks to meet me in SIN. I'm flying from SYD on the same day. I hope his flight actually departs let alone be delayed!!

encryptededdy, you summarised the situation well.

There's no consumer protection in Oz for situations to which you refer. Many on AFF have commented re this.

'Jetstar' and 'reimbursement' are antonyms.
