Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

I have bookings on JQ8 on sept 30 and just booked Qantas flex tickets back the same day as backup as need to be back on the late on the 1st for my own birthday. No idea Jetstar would be this unreliable. Halfway through European trip and every flight early except Qantas to bkk. Trying not to let it influence my travel decisions going forward

Maybe it should 'influence your travel decisions'.

I and many others avoid Qantas and Jetstar, and among the reasons is their continuing inability to operate constantly punctually. So many other international airlines do better in delivering passengers mostly on time or close to it, and with better service on board. Plus just as safe.

On Monday 19 September, JQ38, the 2235 hours Sunday 18 DPS-SYD took off at 0107 hours so expected arrival becomes 0811, 116 minutes late for B788 VH-VKF.

JQ28, the overnight delayed HKT to SYD is arriving at 0752 hours, 1302 minutes late, with VH-VKI.

The bitre report should be interesting!
JQ ops seem to have fallen off a cliff

On Sunday 18 September, ....

JQ7, the 1210 hours MEL-SIn, is again delayed for a lengthy period, with today's expected to depart at 2130 mid evening.

JQ7 eventually departed at 2327 arriving at the gate at Changi at 0450 some 10:50 late. As a result JQ8 ended up departing at 0657 instead of the scheduled 2125.

Meanwhile today's JQ7 has now been retimed to 1700, some 5 hrs late. Let's see if that will end up being 1930 or will leave "on time" at 1700.

JQ7/8 generally has always been the worst performance wise….aircraft broken down or not. Always had frequency chopped and changed, delayed, cancelled. I mean just have a look on FR24 in previous months, it’s 50/50 sort of going on time or not. I once had a booking 6 months out. Schedule changed 3 times, I opted for a refund but it ended up being cancelled on the day.

I now opt for ScootBiz , I don’t believe they have actually ever cancelled a Melbourne to Singapore flight, they also have a few dozen 787s to fall back on.

At least 1/3 of Flights from Melbourne this morning cancelled with many more across the day. Great start to School Holidays.
SYD MEL is also a bit of a bloodbath
JQ 509, 517, and 529 all cancelled.

Also JQ 416 and 410 SYD to OOL cancelled.

JQ 439 and 445 OOL to MEL today also cancelled.

Whats the reason for short haul cancellations, crew shortage?

Looks like catch up related. Can see about 10 Charter flights this morning which are rescheduled from Saturday and Sunday cancellations.

The worst appears to be Melbourne-Busselton which was cancelled and rescheduled from Saturday to right now as I type.

For whatever reason, TR appears to cancel a SYD flight more than one to/from MEL: as noted in the relevant thread, TR3, the lunchtime 1225 hours from SYD to SIN has been cancelled a few times in recent weeks. In contrast, it's extremely rare for parent SQ to cancel an Oz flight (although I can't monitor every scheduled arrival or departure).

JQ7 eventually left just after 1800. 6 hours later than scheduled departure time and only an hour later than the rescheduled time. Let's hope they can claw the time back and get back to schedule!

Looks like we've got another two MEL-SYD cancellations today, one MEL-OOL, and one SYD-MEL. Hopefully JQ's got enough capacity to reaccomodate these passengers to travel today.

Tuesday 20 September 2022 sees JQ29, the 1315 hours early afternoon MEL-BKK estimated to instead depart at 2200 hours, 525 minutes late.

JQ36, the morning 0635 hours arrival in MEL ex DPS was cancelled.

JQ8 from SIN is expected to arrive shortly in MEL at 1124 hours, 279 minutes late with B788 VH-VKE. It had taken off at 0250 hours this morning.

The SGN-MEL JQ64 is arriving in MEL at about 1126 hours, 96 late with B788 VH-VKG.

JQ17 (1140 hours SYD-MEL-HKT) is delayed by an expected hour in its Sydney pushback.

The BKK-MEL JQ30, the 0930 hours arrival, should come in at around 1725 late this afternoon.

At this rate, I'm expecting these severe schedule disruptions to continue for another month!

And today's JQ7 (Sep 21) left an hour later than the already 10 hour delayed departure!
