Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

On 8 July 2023, SYD airport had single runway operations (the east-west) for much if not all, of the day and perhaps evening, but being Saturday, it didn't seem to result in any significant delays so I refrained from mentioning.

The same is occurring on Sunday 9 July's morning. A320 VH-VFJ as JQ458, the 1035 hours SYD up to BNK was at 1121 still third in a lengthy takeoff queue from what one can see. It is likely to be more than half an hour late arriving in Ballina.

Given Sunday afternoons are busier, if the airport remains in single runway use mode, delays could be expected to compound and continue into the evening.

50 min overall delay to JQ 740, the scheduled 0725 SYD-LST pushed back approx 0755 after boarding was delayed “until the fog in LST was lifting”. Sat at the holding point in drizzly conditions for a further 30min.

Sunday 6 August 2023's JQ57 (B788 VH-VKD, the 0715 hours BNE up to DPS airborne at 0752 hours) should arrive at 1146 hours, 31 minutes late.

It's somewhat foggy in MEL but highly likely to be worse at AVV, which would explain why on Tuesday 8 August 2023, JQ602, the 0600 hours to SYD (A320 VH-NXI) was not in the sky until 0802. Arrival should be at around 0911 hours, 106 minutes behind schedule.

JQ664 from Melbourne to Ayers Rocks just turned around over SA and seems to return to MEL

They would have known about this delay at least for the last 48hrs, as the aircraft operating this service came from HNL which arrived 2 hours after your scheduled departure time.

A 335pm HNL arrival and operating a 530 departure sounds about right.

They lie and misinform often ..

So it appears VH-VKE which diverted to Guam earlier in the week has caused mayhem across the 787 schedules. Still grounded.

My mother is (was) flying Melbourne to coughet tomorrow (Friday) on JQ 17 14:35 departure, arriving 20:25. I was commenting last night that this time last year Jetstar was an absolute mess (I faced and also benefited from significant delays to their MEL-SIN flights), but they seem to be much better this year. So sure enough I jinxed it, now delayed to depart on Saturday morning at 11am. "Thanks Jetstar!"

They don’t appear to be an aircraft down so not sure what the issue is. 2 aircraft look like about 5 hours behind.

Yeh, I was trying to see what was happening, as we know delays can be come rolling delays, but couldn't see where they delay would be coming from. Maybe something coming out of maintenance or crew issues? Online there was an alternative offered via Singapore, which involved an overnight stay (which is not a problem, she can stay with us so doesn't have to pay for accom), but it would mean arriving later than the rescheduled non stop flight and probably involve luggage collection/drop , muck up catering and seat selection etc.

I’d say engineering must want VKF/H tomorrow for maintenance. Whole fleet is up and about otherwise.

We're sorry we had to cancel your flight JQ766 25/09/2023 from Sydney to Adelaide Your flight was cancelled because of crewing requirements.
Spent night in Sydney with Jetstar booking me on the next morning flight . Hotel food and extra day parking was paid for by Jetstar. Overall I was happy with the way Jetstar handled me as a customer.Running a business these things happen...

Friday 2nd of February sees JQ63, the domestic leg from the international terminal SYD-MEL cancelled due to engineering issues.

I have 2 staff in Bali who have advised their flight home (Sun nite) has been delayed by 24 hours. They are/were on JQ128, and they were expected back at work tomorrow! re rostering staff now to cover their absence for a day!
EDIT - just heard JQ put both staff and partners up in a hotel for the night.

One 787 out of order so expect some substituting for the foreseeable future.

One of my colleagues also missed out on a seat on the Neo.
