Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

On Thursday 17 August, JQ402 (early morning 0640 hours SYD up to OOL) is delayed in its departure until at least 0740.

The 0700 hours SYD - MEL, JQ503, departed at 0730 with arrival expected at 0910, 35 minutes late.

JQ745 (0710 hours SYD down to LST) will not depart until after 0740.

JQ523 (Thursday 17 August 1820 hours early evening SYD - MEL that was in teh sky at 1859 with A321 VH-VWW) should pull in at 2025, half an hour late.

On Friday 18 August, JQ36 (B788 VH-VKE, the overnight from DPS down to MEL) was to arrive 72 minutes behind time at 0752 hours, but as at 0752, it was in a holding pattern to Bendigo's east so arrival has been further delayed to about 0811. This aircraft does not look to be forming another international flight today from what is publicly displaying.

JQ91 on the shorter DPS - CNS route (A320 VH-VQG) should arrive 35 minutes behind time at 0820 on 18 August.

The early start 0610 hours NTL - MEL, A320 VH-VGT as JQ473 took off punctually at 0622 but arrival looks likely after 0822, so it is a minimum 32 minutes late.

Media reports are highlighting the strong winds at SYD but so far, on 18 August as at mid morning there are not huge numbers of significant delays. However JQ504, the 0825 hours MEL - SYD did not take off until 0918, so arrival of A320 VH-XSJ should be at 1034 hours, 44 late.

Later on Friday 18 August 2017, JQ505 (1545 hours mid afternoon from ADL up to SYD that was airborne at 1620 with A320 VH-VFU is arriving on the east-west runway and should be at the SYD terminal at 1749 hours, 39 late.

The 1520 hours mid afternoon MEL up to SYD, JQ514 (A321 VH-VWQ) was airborne at 1640 but encountered a holding pattern above Goulburn, so arrival has become 1816 hours instead of 1645, 91 late.

JQ515 (A320 VH-VGQ, the 1350 hours early afternoon from SYD down to MEL that was in the sky at 1841 early this evening) should arrive at 2013, 288 minutes later than timetabled. A321 VH-VWY, while not as bad, is still very late with this 1600 hours flight on the same route taking off at 1830; expected arrival is 1953 rather than 1735, 138 minutes late. Once again on days when the network's punctuality is poor it shows what a lottery catching a particular flight on a high frequency route can be.

Continuing with what has been an extremely windy day at Sydney Airport (and somewhat wet and miserable as a Metro train driver in Melbourne said over the PA on a train this arvo), JQ461 from BNK down to SYD, the 1650 hours that was airborne at 1955 tonight (A320 VH-VQL) looks to be arriving at about 2144, 209 minutes tardy.

JQ959 is touching down from the east (normally a mode not favoured late at night) at 2259 in SYD after this timetabled 1800 hours from CNS took off at 1948. It is due in SYD at 2055 so is a little more than two hours late.

Still on a very windy Friday 18 August in Sydney, JQ819 must have a curfew dispensation from the Federal Minister's delegate as this 2040 hours BNE down to SYD that took off at 2205 with A320 VH-VQA should touch down at approximately 2338 tonight, almost 40 minutes after the curfew normally commences.

JQ527 (2050 hours SYD - MEL that took off at 2243 with A321 VH-VWW) looks to be arriving at 0007 hours on Saturday 19 August, 102 minutes late.

The DPS - PER JQ107 has A320 VH-VFL and should arrive at about 2343, 33 minutes late.

The Wednesday 23 August afternoon JQ520 (1630 hours MEL - SYD, A320 VH-VQK) took off at about 1714, so arrival is delayed from the usual 1755 to about 1833. Possibly reflecting the relatively stagnant level of demand for domestic travel at present (or lower demand midweek), this aircraft sat in MEL upon arriving on JQ475 at about 1007 this morning (ex "coals" NTL.)

VH-XSJ, another A320 is on the 1915 hours MEL - SYD JQ528 (having taken off at 2013 hours) and should arrive at around 2127, 47 minutes late.

Tuesday 5 September 2017 sees JQ43, the mid morning 0915 hours from MEL to DPS delayed until an expected 1600 hours for an afternoon departure. It looks like it will be formed by JQ12, the scheduled 1100 arrival from NRT and OOL that is instead expected to pull in at 1445 hours.

This will adversely affect JQ44 which has been retimed to arrive in MEL at a predicted 0440 hours on Wednesday 6 instead of 2215 hours this evening.

On Wednesday 6 September, JQ520 (afternoon 1630 hours from MEL up to SYD) has been cancelled, as was JQ513, the 1245 hours lunchtime departure southbound. JQ519, another southbound (the 1700 hours ex SYD) has also received the order of the Royal boot.

JQ779 (timetabled 1600 hours arrival in MEL ex ADL) has been altered to arrive at a very late 1815 hours early this evening.

Monday 11 September 2017 sees TransTasman JQ140 (timetabled at 0640 hours ex CHC for SYD) having taken off with A320 VH-VGI at a very late 0818 hours. Expected arrival is 59 minutes late at 0909 this morning.

JQ832 (0730 hours holidaymakers' flight from MEL to PPP) did not take off until 0837 hours with A320 VH-VQR. It should pull in at around about 1121, 56 minutes behind time.

JQ503 (0700 hours SYD - MEL, A321 Vh-VWY) is continuing this carrier's reputation for poor punctuality on the busy SYD - MEL route with takeoff at 0755. Arrival is suggested at 0924 hours, 49 minutes late.

The 0715 hours from MEL across to PER, JQ972 (A320 VH-VFN) did not take off until 0853 hours. Anticipated arrival is at 1106 late this morning local time, 96 minutes tardy.

Later on 11 September 2017, JQ561 (scheduled 0715 hours from BNE down to MEL) has had a shocking morning with takeoff of A320 VH-VFL occurring at 1035 hours. This means projected MEL arrival of 1301, 201 minutes late.

JQ514 (A321 VH-VWN, the 1520 hours MEL up to SYD) on 11 September took off at 1617 after departing at 1601 hours. Arrival should be 46 late at 1731.

Continuing with 11 September, the scheduled mid evening 2030 hours from MEL up to BNE (A320 VH-VGA, JQ570) was not in the sky until 2245. Expected arrival has become 0033 on Tuesday 12, 123 minutes behind schedule.

Tuesday 12 September 2017 has seen JQ560, the scheduled 0730 hours early morning MEL up to BNE cancelled.

Continuing with 12 September, JQ17 (mid afternoon 1450 hours MEL up to HKT, B788 VH-VKG) took off about an hour late at 1604 so arrival is predicted for 2201 hours, 76 minutes late.

JQ518 (mid afternoon 12 September 1615 hours from MEL up to SYD) is badly delayed with departure expected at around 2030 hours this evening.

JQ43, the 0915 hours nicely timed MEL - DPS day flight on Thursday 14 September took off not very late at 0950 hours, but presumably adverse winds are resulting in a suggested arrival at 1348, 33 late for B788 class leader VH-VKA.

The 1020 hours MEL - SYD JQ508 (A320 VH-VGF) was in the sky at 1119, so arrival should be at 1230, 45 minutes delayed.

Later on Thursday 14 September, JQ661 (1415 hours AYQ - SYD that was in the sky at 1520, A320 VH-VFY) is arriving at 1844, 59 late.

Showing that delays are not restricted to flights using SYD today, JQ753, the 1700 hours BNE down to LST (A320 VH-VQA) was airborne at 1753 hours. Arrival is predicted for 2017, 37 minutes tardy.

JQ522 (1815 hours MEL - SYD) is expected to depart at 2030.

Continuing with the many delays of a windy (in SYD) Thursday 14 September, the 2200 hours late night JQ529 took off at 2243 with A320 Vh-VQH. Arrival should be at around 0011 hours on Friday 15, 36 late.

JQ419 (1930 hours OOL down to SYD that was in the sky at 2059 with A320 Vh-VQP) looks to be arriving at 2303 hours, but touching down at 2258 which for curfew purposes is the important time.
