Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ61 (1945 hours relatively new flight from SYD to SGN that took off on Thursday 30 November with B788 VH-VKB) should arrive at roughly 0138 hours on Friday 1 December, 68 minutes behind the eight ball.

The 1855 hours JQ35 from MEL to DPS took off at 2056 with another B788, VH-VKE. Its arrival should be at 2347, 122 minutes late but as one might expect DPS looks to be very busy for aircraft. Reports from AFF members as to how check-in and immigration/ security lines are would be interesting.

JQ511 (Saturday 2 December 1230 hours SYD - MEL, A320 VH-XSJ) did not take off until 1343; arrival is likely at 1455, 50 minutes tardy.

The 1245 hours northbound JQ511 (A320 VH-VQP) was airborne at 1356 so its arrival should be at 1503, 53 minutes late.

VH-VQE on the DRW - ADL JQ84 should pull in to its allocated tarmac space at 1406 hours, 176 minutes behind schedule.
 
In further on 2 December, JQ29 (B788 VH-VKE, the 1435 hours MEL - BKK) took off at 1645. Its arrival has been delayed until an expected 2201 tonight, 131 minutes late.

JQ514 (1520 hours MEL - SYD, A321 VH-VWY) was in the sky at 1602 for a suggested 1724 hours, 39 minutes late arrival.
 
On Sunday 3 December 2017, JQ has cancelled flights meant to depart DPS before 1600 hours as media reports indicate that atmospheric conditions on Bali have worsened. I assume that any fights after 1600 will have their status reviewed tomorrow morning.

There is no mention of passengers being flown ex Australia (i.e. northbound) so that must mean many cancelled holidays (or passengers taking up where they can, and there are seats available) airline offers of alternative destinations such as HKT.

Travel insurers won't be welcoming this if passengers took out insurance prior to an insurer saying this risk was no longer covered.
 
JQ havent taken anyone to DPS in about a week and won't be about to start any time soon, it would appear.

Many complaints on FB claiming if its safe to bring people home, surely it is safe to fly people to DPS. Some people...
 
Must...Fly!, I don't believe QF either has taken anyone northbound to DPS on QF43, its sole flight.

VA may be the same. GA: no information. As for SQ and others who don't fly nonstop, who would know but they're probably more of a chance to convey passengers.

I'm in two minds about this unidirectional reluctance. On the one hand, passengers may not all just be going to DPS, so how do they start their RTW or greater than one sector trip without the first leg? On the other side, if airlines have to divert a northbound flight, they also then have to worry about how to accommodate or deal with passengers accepted by the airline for carriage. And if conditions re Mt Agung are worsening, it's not a good idea for holidaymakers to visit.

I assume that accommodation operators are starting to give what we in Oz would call 'casual staff' fewer or no hours. Perhaps permanent staff are being kept on - for the moment.
 
I doubt there is any shortage of demand for people to work in hotels at the moment given how many people are still stuck!
 
JQ523 (A320 VH-VFV, the 1840 hours evening SYD - MEL that was in the sky at 2009 hours) should arrive at 2134, 79 minutes late.

The media is repeating yesterday's advice about this morning's cancelled flights. There is not any indication from JQ QF or VA as to what they are doing, but Indonesian-domiciled GA is operating to and from DPS including on its Oz routes.

The situation is difficult to get a handle on especially for the majority of us who are not there. Just when Australian-registered airlines will decide that they are willing to fly passengers from Oz northbound to DPS (and not just ex the latter southbound) remains a mystery.

While Must...Fly! contended that there would be plenty of stranded tourists on Bali, with Australian airlines having carried about 7400 in a couple of days (to Saturday 2 December) back home and no one (from Australia) arriving, I'd surmise that plenty of rooms must be vacant. Hotel, restaurant and tour operators must be suffering revenue losses (although prepaid bookings might be non refundable in many cases.)

JQ has announced that it will be operating six flights from DPS to Australia tonight (3 December) but it has been silent on whether it is conveying passengers from Australia to DPS.

Looks like JQ are starting to run some flights later Sunday.
One factor why Australian airlines are more reluctant to fly to DPS is that if Agung erupts or an ash plume affects DPS after take off from Aus then they have more of a logistical issue when their aircraft need to divert at the end of their flights, and they don't have ground facilities easily at hand at the diversion airport. Indonesian airlines have plenty of alternates with ground facilities nearby. It also takes Australian airlines longer to ferry aircraft into position .
 
JQ432 (Monday 4 December 1000 hours MEL - OOL that was in the sky at 1056, A320 VH-VGP) should arrive at 1158, 53 minutes late.
 
Later on 4 December, JQ424 (1840 hours SYD - OOL that was in the sky at 1920 with A321 VH-VWT) should pull in to its allocated Gold Coast tarmac space at 1941 hours, 41 minutes behind time.

Not far behind is JQ820, also a scheduled 1840 hours but one that took off at 1926 bound for BNE. Its arrival is predicted to be 1949, 39 minutes tardy for A320 VH-VGF.

However passengers booked on Jetstar [Asia] flight 3K1514 this past Wednesday took an entire day to make the journey. Jetstar Asia is an offshoot of Jetstar Airlines, the low cost subsidiary of Qantas.

JQ677 (Friday 8 December 0110 hours DRW - MEL redeye that took off at 0153, A320 VH-VQE) is arriving at 0721, 31 minutes tardy.
 
A320 VH-VQH on JQ503 (Saturday 9 December 2017, the 0700 hours early morning SYD - MEL) did not become airborne until 0753. Arrival should be 37 late at 0912.

Monday 18 December 2017 has JQ776 (2000 hours evening MEL - ADL that took off at 2053, A320 VH-JQG) suggested as arriving at 2140 hours, 50 late.
 
Tuesday 19 December 2017 has JQ57 (B788 VH-VKE, the midafternoon 1450 hours MEL - BNE that was in the sky at 1610) arriving at a suggested 1707 hours, 72 minutes late.

A320 VH-VFD on JQ723 (1400 hours SYD down to HBA) was airborne at 1447; arrival is predicted as 1627, 32 minutes late.
