Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Ok in some countries occasionally you get a round of applause on the plane upon landing, particularly in rough weather. But yesterday on the flight delayed from the day before there was a spontaneous round of applause when we pushed back, most had been delayed 26hrs. A lucky few such as me and the people I was sitting next to me only suffered a 2 hr delay. But boy it was still took >90 minutes from the boarding call in the J lounge to push back as we had to still wait for crew, then for catering, then for a tug.

Well, yesterday's JQ7 left 12 hours late and today's flight has been rescheduled for 10 hours later.
This is getting beyond a joke.
They almost need a wet lease to get things back on track.

Today's 3:20pm direct from HBA to SYD, JQ 722, is cancelled.

Just overhead a woman on the Hobart SkyBus just now complaining that she had to book last minute $800 QantasLink flights to get back to Sydney before work on Monday, since Jetstar wasn't offering any alternates until Monday.

JQ7 MEL-SIN scheduled 1210, since 01SEP, has departed within 2 hours only 3 times. It has been cancelled 3 times (twice in the last week) . And now the operational normal is >2200 departures after 3 delays all during the day (6 times in past week), turning it into a night flight 0500 arrival.

Would appear they have solved their bali bad publicity, by wrecking the rest of their schedules. But i dont hear any uproar in the press anymore.

I dont know what to do..... probably will book SQ like i shoud have in the first place, and dispose of the JQ flight.

(note 6 hour delay i have deemed green OK!)

Looks like it's on time tomorrow. However, having a quick look, only 1 787 inbound in the morning from DPS likely to operate the AM Bali. The next one will one the aircraft returning at 4pm from the delayed SIN flight.

Likely will be delayed until 6pm or later again. Can see one 787 in Sydney from yesterday, likely another dead one.

yep..... due to bad publicity they got the bali schedule back on track, at the expense of other destinations.

Its redicolous. JQ 8 is the first time I have booked Jetstar in a long time, might be the last. One off delays are to be expected. Have backup qantas flex tickets booked at great cost. Will cancel JQ8 when I get the delayed text, and expect a full refund not a credit voucher. Can't see them getting it fixed by them.

Yes indeed, that's why I have cancelled my JQ7 booking for next month and booked (luckily) an award J ticket on QF81 ex SYD.

Someone's head should roll for this fiasco...

788 -VKF has been on ground SYD for almost 36 hrs.

788 -VKL has been in SYD for over 3 months. This was the lightning strike. Original estimate for repair was 2 months

788 -VKK should return from the KAL paint shop at Busan later next week

788 -VKB still in MEL maint. This one is a dog of an a/c flown less than 50 times this year. Being used as a "hangar queen"

And to make things more fun the Japanese government has lowered border restrictions in the future, I have been watching them reduce their NRT services down to1x Week and they have been pre-emptively consolidating light loads in Oct and Nov but now the inconsiderate Japanese government have reopened their borders it will be a scramble for them maintaining their B788 international schedule.

Just checked .... 26/09 JQ7 MEL_SIN cancelled

Only two aircraft available for departures tomorrow morning from Melbourne and three flights, two DPS and one BKK before lunchtime.

SYD-DPS/HNL cancelled this evening. Ouch. That aircraft out of action is causing all sorts of problems.

-VKK heading back to MEL from KAL paintshop at Busan. Should arrive 2000hrs, maybe scheduled for the late BKK flight at 2200hrs ?

Next aircraft should leave for repaint soon, so still at least 3 -788's on the ground

Are there now two out from lightening strikes?

The Daily telegraph reports one had a lightning strike in Cairns last week, that would be that aircraft stuck at Sydney I assume.

Yes makes sense so that’s two out!
Are other operators having these issues with 787s, JQs are fairly early models, hopefully not a sign of things to come for QFs (and others)

Todays (27th) JQ29/30 currently showing a 9 hour delay

Let's see if JQ7 on Wednesday can leave on time...
Might be in for some luck tomorrow. 787 arrivals into Melbourne tomorrow at 0515/0635/0940, and three departures 0910/1100/1210

However will be issues in the evening with the next arrivals 1800/2010 and two departures meant to occur at 1550/1745.

To keep with tradition they could just delay the SIN flight 10 hours again and let either HNL or DPS go out on time.

Looks like the 2nd lightning strike a/c (VKF) is back in the air again. Pushed back and heading from SYD to DPS at 2030

VKK just back in MEL from KAL paintshop. Should head to BKK at 2200

Of all their international flights, the Singapore one (JQ7) is probably the one that will have the most international connections (well, that's the reason for refusing to move to Changi T4), so it should be given priority for on-time performance!
