Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

FR24 can sometimes give us a clue that an aircraft has failed.

A321 VH-VWX is still displaying as operating JQ512, the 1225 hours Sunday 25 August 2024 MEL-SYD.

However this isn't what occurred. JQ512 ended up as 'cancelled'.

Upon arriving from SYD a minute early at 1124 hours as JQ509, the 0945 hours to MEL, it instead formed JQ705, the 1030 hours midmorning MEL-HBA airborne at 1229 hours. This arrived in the island capital at 1330 hours, 105 minutes late.

It is next to operate JQ704, the 1220 hours lunchtime HBA back up to MEL that may be off blocks at 1415 hours or later.

As at 2040 AEST on Sunday 25 August 2024, MEL appears to be only using the east-west runway, creating further delays.

For instance the 2000 hours MEL-DRW JQ678 (VH-VGD) has yet to take off, being second in the queue as at 2043 hours, so will inevitably be delayed.

JQ448, the 1855 hours MEL-OOL (A321 VH-VWT) is further back.

I was on a JQ flight that landed about 17:50 25-08-2024. Crew said had been delays with other flights due to weather.

Light fog had been predicted for BNE's Monday 26 August 2024 morning.

JQ929 (A320 VH-VGY, the 0600 first of the morning CNS down to BNE) took off at 0623 hours but is not estimated to arrive until 0916, 66 minutes late, so like other flights, this is almost exactly an hour's delay.

The 0720 hours BNE down to HBA (A320 VH-VQA) was airborne at 0850 hours so suggested arrival becomes 1121 hours, 81 minutes late.

Not a good way for passengers on JQ404 (A320 VH-YXW) on the first day of Spring as this 0810 hours scheduled offering from SYD to OOL was only off blocks in Sydney a few minutes ago, close to 1030 hours.

If this aircraft's planned operation does not change and/or there isn't another aircraft to substitute, this will guarantee that JQ407 (1010 OOL to SYD) and JQ410 (1220 hours SYD back to OOL) run badly late. It then supposedly has a scheduled 140 minute layover before JQ696 at 1600 hours from OOL down to HBA and 40 minutes on the ground in Tasmania prior to JQ695 at 1920 hours tonight back to the Gold Coast at a timetabled arrival of 2155 hours. In theory the last two (especially the '140') should enable it to pick up time but let's see.

JQ43 (A321 VH-OFY, the 0915 hours MEL northwest to popular DPS) took off at 1047 hours. Gate arrival is estimated as 78 minutes late at 1443 hours local time.

Melbourne doesn't look pretty with Ground Delay Program active till at least 2pm. Will be 27 ops pretty much the entire day, with strong westerly winds, windshear, rain, and isolated storms/hail forecast.

On Wednesday 4 September 2024, JQ952 (A321 VH-VWN) has had a much delayed start with this 0610 hours SYD up to CNS still taxiing in Sydney at 0907 hours. The return flight (1015 hours back down to SYD, JQ949) is unlikely to depart before 1245 hours.

JQ142 (Thursday 5 September 2024's 0900 hours RAR-SYD may have made an unscheduled stop in AKL today, with the result that A321 VH-OYK is arriving at 1709 hours instead of 1155.

JQ43, the 0915 hours MEL-DPS on Sunday 8 September 2024 was airborne at 1050. A321 VH-OFW should arrive at 1441 hours, 76 minutes late.

B788 VH-VKK has been in Sydney since arriving at 1420 hours mid afternoon yesterday as JQ4 from HNL, but today's excursion as JQ47, the 1045 hours SYD-ICN has an amended departur4e time of 1300 in the early 8 September 2024 afternoon, 135 minutes tardy.

JQ7 (Thursday 12 September's 1205 hours MEL-SIN, B788 VH-VKD) was airborne at 1340 hours. Expected gate arrival becomes 74 late at 1914 this evening.

A321 VH-VWW on Sunday 15 September had a late start to its day with the 0730 hours MEL up to SYD not up up and away until 0931 hours. JQ502 is arriving at 1045 hours, 105 minutes late.

Its next flight is JQ509, the 0945 hours SYD-MEL that will be lucky to be airborne by 1140.

Unless JQd can organise an aircraft swap, or the A321 has a substantial layover at some stage today (the latter unlikely), the plane will run late all day.

On Monday 16 September, JQ63 (B788 VH-VKG, the 1525 hours mid afternoon MEL-SGN was airborne at 1745 hours. Arrival at gate should be at 2245 hours, 105 minutes tardy.

On Wednesday 18 SEptember, A320 VH-VQF had arrived about 45 minutes late in PER but the 1550 hours JQ987 from PER to SYD did not take off until 1743. Touchdown in SYD is estimated as bang on 2300 hours, right on curfew and 65 minutes late.

JQ17 (Thursday 19 September, the 1450 hours MRL-HKT that took off at 1557 with B787 VH-VKK) looks to be arriving at its gate at about 2137 hours mid evening, 57 behind.
