I jagged a SIN/MEL *class recently for A$350, purchased in S$ on the Singapore site.

What annoyed me was that I did not get notice of the sale, but my chum who NEVER flies JQ did and kindly told me. I am a regular on JQ flights. It only seemed to be available for 24 hours too!

Yes, how true. I would've booked a couple of * class flights recently, but the offer expired before I saw it.

BTW, these offers to Japan are quite good, but I don't have the time to go right now (I have 2 trips to Europe booked for that timeframe).

Another Japan Sale

Travel periods appear to be in the next two months or so. Sale ends midnight this Saturday (28 May 2011).

What is interesting is that in big letters the Business Max fares appear (which is the traditional Star Class as we know it). What surprises me is that the fares aren't surreptitiously much higher than what we are accustomed to for Star Class sales to Japan.

Then there is a smaller but still flashy print which says that you can get a standard Business fare for $549. Quite a small value for Star Class comfort, albeit with no points. (But for your run of the mill flyer, they really might not care, and - add to that - businesses as well!)

But most of the Japan sales of previous were never excellent on SC value in Star Class, especially since they stopped making the connectors in JQ Star Class or QF Business class. (Although a few years ago before many things, including JASAs, getting that kind of price was a good deal. It still is, considering that normal Star Class prices are / were considerably higher).

The cost has probably gone up but I was expecting the sale now to be Business, and the rack rates were Business Max.
