Jetstar International - upgrading to Star Class at check in.

Hi. Just wondering if anyone knows how much it costs now to upgrade at check in to Star Class. A couple of years ago we did this at check in and paid about $300 each pp which was much better value than paying for the published Star Class online.

But I remember reading somewhere that they now charge the full difference between economy and the published SC fare. Has anyone paid for an upgrade recently at check in? Thanks

We upgraded at check in last December Syd - Honolulu and it cost $200 each. Well worth it and got front row :D

This got me thinking that purchasing a Jetsaver light CNS-NRT-CNS for $doodley squat, followed by ODUs for $200 and JPY 17000 would be great value for a punt on 240 SCs.

Not so. Tried a booking and found these fares (including the *C sale price)
JetSaver Light $495.69
JetFlex $865.69
StarClass $735.69

Similar return price although the Light fare a bit cheaper. However for the outward leg I think I'd pay the $36 extra and guarantee the SCs

Cheers skip

Are you sure? I can't recall the reference (it was posted on here a while back) but there was a JQ document that stated you weren't to earn the J SC for ODU (in retrospect though people have been most of the time).

We were on the cheapest seats to Honolulu from Sydney and upgraded on check in and we got the extra credits and points. :D

Hi All
Sorry to re-hash this thread.

Has anyone bothered to try upgrading on of the MEL-SYD vv star class sectors?
I'm thinking about it for the status credits.

Good question if you mean on JQ35 - I was going to try on the F lounge run in Jan but the line was a bit long. Only issue I see is that the upgrade price might not make it worth it in terms of SC cost/$.

JQ do not offer this..

Thanks for the quick replies guys.... guess that's put the pin in that idea.

Yes. I was quoted $250 odd for JQ35. By the check in person. I assumed they got confused and quoted me the cost to DPS. The line was too long so I didn't pursue the matter. Plus they had already moved me to an exit row aisle seat.

Does anyone know if Air Pacific offers upgrades at check in?

Who flys Y with FJ after reading certain content here??? Then again it is school holidays which means D class goes quickly!

Sorry to bump an old thread but we are flying Jetstar to Honolulu next May and really need to upgrade my husband to star class. Has anyone done this recently? We got the super cheap specials when they launched this route.

We were told by Jetstar to call 14 days prior to the flight to see the availabilty of the upgrade or to just watch out for specials and then upgrade.

Does anyone else have any hints on how to get the upgrade?

Has the rules changed since this post started?

Do you mean the MEL-HNL launch fare sale about 3 months ago? If so J class was also on sale for the launch @ $599 each way. For that price I would be surprised if there are any J seats left.
