From the small print @ Jetstar MasterCard

"A non-refundable Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards annual fee of $30 will apply to the Jetstar MasterCard and will be charged upon your first enrolment into Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards and then each year on the anniversary of your enrolment in Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards."

Has anyone been charged the $30/yr fee, or is this only for people who don't already have a QFF membership or something?

The $30 annual applies to the Jetstar MasterCard (the orange one), not the Jetstar Platinum MasterCard (the silver one) which this thread is about

Cool. I just looked at the card comparison that shows this too. Thanks.

No worries - I found that particular web page particularly confusing, and had to go over some parts multiple times before applying.

My 40k points posted yesterday (1 week after payment)- happy with prompt service.

I am now actually going to be in 2k positive balance after a refund (in addition to my spendings)- anyone have any thoughts for the most EFFICIENT way to withdraw the cash? Or should I be content with using that 2k for normal spend and cop 2k qff with it.....

If you call them, they might be able to refund to your bank account.

They did do it for me after I had cancelled the card, but it may not work if the card is still open. Give it a try - all they can say is "no", I suppose.

So after initially saying "no" prior to the refund, once the cash was back in they transferred to savings account no problem. CHEERS! :)

I have this card and recently applied for Mrs. The basic card has been issued with a lower limit. Now I'm not sure if we will be charged the optin to QFF fee.

Anyone had this happen and were you able to get 40,000 points or only the 20,000?

I just realised unlike ANZ card and most others this card can be used with any BPAY merchant (and get points for it). It's quickly becoming my favourite.

I applied for this one to get the points after cancelling my NAB card but they sent me the regular one with a 5.7k limit (platinum is min $6k). This was surprising considering NAB gave me $15k on the one I just closed.

Also I received an email to say my first statement was ready before I had anything to say it had been approved.

I guess I'll just call and cancel it. It's a shame, I was going to keep this one.

Call them and see if they can manually review your application because you're only interested in the platinum card with the bonus points.

No guarantees, but it's worth a shot. I didn't have to do this with my JQ card, but it worked with Bankwest in the same situation.

I had a dream run with is card but my wife's card has been a nightmare. Like you, she was issued with the classic card without asking if it was wanted. The annual fee is $29 + $30 opt in to qantas, but you will get the 20,000 bonus QFF points. Vs 40,000 QFF points for $69 the platinum card. Given that you've already taken the credit hit, only you can decide if the 20,000 points is worth the $59 if you activate the card. We too had a statement issued with the annual fee, 3 weeks before the card was activated and The statement was even accessible.

Took 20 minutes to cancel. And she tried telling me I would have a statement for $30 for the QFF opt-in fee.

Not sure when the promotion started. I'd take a screen sot and the web address. If you've spent $2,000 (for classic card), I'd ring and ask where the points are. They are painful to deal with as it's Macquarie bank, but ask for a Solution Specialist straight up. Good luck.

I applied for the Jetstar Platinum card on 27 May 2016. I based this decision on the following wording on the Qantas website:
To be eligible for the bonus Qantas Points offer, you must apply for a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard before 31 May 2016, be approved and opt-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards.
To me, this reads that you simply must apply before 31 May and get the application approved (at some point). After calling Macquarie Bank twice, they have said the application must be approved before 31 May 2016. I think this is deceptively worded and I should still be eligible for the bonus points. I am going to wait until tomorrow afternoon and if it's not approved I will withdraw my application. Pretty dissatisfied with their flexibility here.

They were quick with my approval - I applied last Monday (23rd) and the card arrived in the mail on Wednesday (25th) I had nothing to say I was approved so got a bit of a surprise to see it in the mail
