Not to mention earning more miles, by the seat of one's pants, by putting the BMI FF number on SQ and other StarAlliance flights.

(Too bad the website was giving maintenance errors before our trip, where I had 1 F & 1 J flight on SQ!)

Sometimes you just need to jump on offers as they appear. Of course, then one has to hope that you can access you account as well....
No great loss. I mainly travel Oneworld and the occassional LCC for short haul trip. As I do not use Star Alliance carriers the 9,000 miles on their own would not make much difference.

It would be just another FF account that would more than likely not get much use. I have a UA MP account that I opened 15 months ago and should have got 3,000 bonus miles but they did not post them and after trying to get them and being denied I decided not to use it. I have a small number of SQ Kris Flyer miles that have been expiring the last few months. I have an AAdvantage account with 2,250 miles that hardly gets any use.

Yes it would appear that the deal is over for now.

Although if you sign up now you can have a complimentary lounge pass for you and a guest.

Shot an email off to them a few days ago explaining the problem. Haven't heard back from them yet. But still can't get in.

This deal is back on (sort of) but now you have to take a BMI flight to get the 9000 miles.

Hey All,

I joined that week they announced the 9000 bonus points. However i did not follow the link on their site, and I was not credited the 9000 bonus points until I sent them an email asking them what happened to the points. They credited the points and in that same email they status matched me to BMI Diamond Club Gold as I informed them about being Qantas Platinum.

Not a bad deal at all considering the number of flights i have with SQ. I always wanted to use their lounges at the new terminal in Singapore..

My account has started suffering the BMI "No login for you" error. Every time I attempted to login over the weekend, I got redirected to the page that tells me BMI website is under maintenance at the moment.

Grrr! Maybe it will resolve itself in a few hours when the UK wakes up properly :)

The offer seems to have been partially resurrected, but is not as generous now. :(
Join diamond club today, the UK's most generous frequent flyer scheme and we'll give you 4,500 destinations miles. That's enough miles for a free one-way flight to one of our European destinations.

I noticed that they've removed this offer (again), and are only offering a lounge pass now for you and a guest, which is only valid in bmi lounges until the 30 June 2008.

My 2,500 miles for doing the survey have posted. So 11,500 miles total for nothing.

Shame I never bothered to create a BMI account for my wife.

According to this, 15000 miles are needed for a one way award, 30000 miles for a return within Zone 9 (or half that + 100 GBP):

Australia (including Tasmania), Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, Guam, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Norfolk Islands, Tonga,Western Somoa.

Also open-jaws and stopovers are allowed.

Now, does anyone have a good suggestion on how to get 3,500 miles easily? Car Rentals through Hertz seem to be 1,500 miles if a non-corporate rate.

U,E,O,Y,B,M,H,Q,V,W,T flights on Air NZ earn, so I guess that's another alternative.

NB, does United allow for one-way awards on Air NZ?

I'd say go for hertz in this part of the world. I have been putting all my car rental to BMI as it has amuch better earn rate thean QFF and bmi obviously has a better burn rate for most routes! The cash + pay options are great - especially in the J cabin

Still doing that error... Emailed Customer Support, but don't actually remember my DC number & couldn't find it in previous emails. Will be interesting to see if they can resolve it.

I still can't access mine, and I don't seem to have a single email from them about my number either! I wouldn't count on a resolution in any reasonable time frame!

I would call the call centre - I had a similar issue and it turned out that the number I was emailed was incorrect.

Just noticed that you can now buy miles from points.com:

25 AUD = 12 GBP = 1,000 miles
130 AUD = 60 GBP = 5,000 miles
230 AUD = 108 GBP = 9,000 miles

+ 15 GBP (32 AUD) transaction fee

The 9000 points offer is back, with one huge catch - you need to take a BMI return flight before 31 July 2008 to get the bonus.

Quite amazing how nothing I have in all the emails has anything resembling a number, and I can't find where I wrote it down :( I am hoping eventually they will send something, or I find something, with a number on it!

The "We'd like to know how we could reward you more" survey email contains a web link similar to:
flybmi.com /livetrack/link.aspx?LinkID=4271&ptEmailID=180&ptSource= dcresearch&ptDestination=https://survey.loyaltyware.com&ptEmailAddress=ME@MyEmail&ptTitle=Mr&ptFirstname=X&ptLastname=X&ptUniqueID=011111111&ptsegmentcode=02

the ptUniqueID is your membership number.
