JQ/3K moving to T4 at SIN in March 2023 :-(

From 3 hours up to 12?
At Jewel JQ/3K allows check in between 12 and 3 hours prior to departure. It’s all kiosk based so if kiosk says no there isn’t much help other then heading over to T4 where check in also opens 12 hours before.

The 2nd thing to note is that Jewel check in is only open 8am to 11:59pm.

That means for JQ8 the SIN to MEL flight you can check in at Jewel anytime after 9am but must check in at Jewel before 6pm otherwise you’ll need to head to T4.

Clearing immigration is no problem at any terminal obviously just got to get to the right gate on time.

Yes absolutely no problems. I did early checkin at Jewel (which is available up to 3 hrs before departure, i.e. 6pm) and then went through passport control at T1 - no questions asked.
Just FYI I tried to go though passport control at T1 and was refused entry for JQ8. Was told I needed to go to T4 to pass through security. The guard was apologetic, but firm in his stance on this.

At least you have another 2 hours until the QF lounge opens

Clearly a YMMV scenario. On Monday afternoon (as in 2 days ago from when I am posting this) I checked in for JQ8 at Jewel at around 4pm, and no problems getting into T1. If I failed at one end I would try the other (there are two entry points into T1).

Was there a reason why?

How were you refused? By the machine or by a person.

I wouldn't have thought that the automated exit process would care (I went in and out of Singapore T1 last week in a matter of 30 minutes, as Scoot made me get a manual BP due to document check).

Before entering the area with machines for immigration clearance you have a document check completed by a person. The rigour of the check depends on the airline.
Correct, this was the very polite, but firm guard who sent my family and I to T4.

Fair enough, but this didn't happen to me (at 5 am). Just waltzed straight to the automated gate.

Another data point.
No questions yesterday going thru at T1.
Might be helped that my paper boarding pass did not have a gate assignment so there was nothing to say the flight won't board from T1.....

Did enjoy the QF J Lounge, reception staff said I needed to allow 90mins(!) to transfer from T1 to T4. It only took me around 20 minutes as didn't need to wait long for the bus.

Doing this next month, good to hear it's not a huge amount of time between the two terminals.
