JQ/3K moving to T4 at SIN in March 2023 :-(

I would have been able to do so “12 hours, as long as the transfer desk is open”.
This is now same as pre covid... basically at Changi at any Jetstar desk (either transit or landside) they can check in flights up to 12 hours prior (this can also include the day before for early morning flights). It was also like this before the shift to T4 as back in Jan I was able to check in for a 6am flight at 7pm the night before.

It's also worth noting that JQ/3K still have check in at T1 Jewel with the catch that it's only open from 12pm until 8pm and it must be at least 3 hours before departure. This is helpful for those planning some T1 lounge action as you can obtain a JQ/3K boarding pass from T1 jewel, head airside at T1 to visit the QF lounge and then travel airside to T4 on the bus. This might be also useful for those arriving at T1 with more than 3 hours between flights as with epassport gates it'd be quicker to go airside to get a boarding pass at jewel then the trek over to T4.

I now wish I had tried Jewel as I read they were only catering for 3K to certain destinations at present.

JQ customer service earlier today advised that check in was only possible for JQ8 3 hours prior to departure… which clearly wasn’t the case.

QF staff at the First lounge advised that the only way to check in for Jetstar flights was at the transfer desk at T4. I can’t say if they were wrong or not.

JQ staff at the transfer desk advised that they do not have a deal with the Blossom lounge. Of course they do as I’m there now having done my lap of terminals and QF F and J lounges.

The Blossom lounge is an obsolute brothel, so please maximise your time in T1.

Back a couple of months ago yes, Jewel check in was limited to destinations with no paperwork checks but now it’s open to all 3K/JQ locations.

As per earlier post JQ (and 3K) flights all fall under the 12 hour rule.

Technically they’re correct, once airside the only way to remain airside and get a JQ/3K boarding pass is at the T4 transit desk. Obviously the T1 jewel remains an option if eligible to enter Singapore.

I’ll try and do some searching but there was someone on AFF which I thought was able to gain access to the QF lunges by just showing a 3K booking rather than the boarding pass but this sounds like the exception.

The Blossom lounge is even listed on the JQ website for business max passengers so obviously they do. The big mystery remains, does the blossom lounge accept QF Gold/Plat flying JQ/3K in Economy, maybe if you’re still there you could ask

I asked this on entry… mostly because I’m flying business max but they insisted on taking my Qantas FF number and expiry date. So I got to see ‘the list’. Business Max + any QF members who are eligible for QF lounge access in T1

If this keeps up then it's amazing they've done this.

Normally QF Gold/Plat don't get access to associated lounges when flying JQ with the key exceptions being CHC and ZQN in NZ where access is allowed. I guess we can now add Singapore to that list!

Not sure if it had anything to do with the terminal change, but seems like almost every passenger on 3K537 (SIN-HKT) on 1 April who came from a connecting JQi/QF flight (including yours truly) were missing their baggage on arrival. AirTags indicate that the bags were left in Singapore.

Lots of unhappy campers queuing at the baggage services desk at HKT late last night.

3K is another example of how uncompetitive Australian business is overseas. Scoot showed what was possible in Asia - 3K had about a decade's head start and is still basically irrelevant.

I feel as if you're forgetting the origins of Jetstar Asia. Unlike Jetstar in Australia which was launched in response to VA, 3K was instead launched as a new carrier that flew further and cheaper, back in the early 2000s Singapore didn't have low cost carriers operating to places far away like Hong Kong, Taiwan etc. Problem was it was something that at the time Tiger Air was able to quickly match.

When 3K merged with Valuair they picked up a lot more short haul routes but then were smashed by Tiger Air in the process who already had those established routes. 3K from the early days also interlined with Qantas but the moving away from SIN as a hub hurt them big time (QF2 delivers a shocking number of people to the 3K network). Obviously Singapore's covid strategy caused even more impact to the point that they moved several A320s into the AU fleet (3K lost 11 aircraft to covid - but are getting 2 back shortly).

I've been on 3K flights recently where well over half of the passengers are interlining from QF/JQ/EK/AF/KL and I guess this is what's keeping it alive. Personally I think the Scoot/Tiger Air merger should have never been approved both from a passenger perspective (Scoots 787s are great and the A320 network is cough) but also a competitive one, it's given the SQ group way to much control of the SG market and I think this is what they want given they're gov controlled.

You can read QFs annual reports from the mid 2000s to now and shows 3K has always had problem, some years its covid others it's rising airport costs across the region, it wouldn't surprise me if the move to T4 (something 3K didn't want) will also be an impact - again both SQ group and Changi airport are gov controlled...

That's a shame. I was there a few weeks ago and T2 is clearly the "budget" international terminal compared to T3.

Although aside from the somewhat rundown retail/F&B, I always liked T2 as it had (still has?) character, not just another glass and steel monstrosity, that seems to very warm in the tropical heat, and that indeed could be anywhere. T2 has a distinct Indonesian flavour, and the use of gardens around gate areas just made it feel a bit different to every other vanilla airport around the world. And was never anywhere near as bad as other older airport terminals in the region (looking at another archipelago country capital city airport ...)

We have a QFF rewards flight with Jetstar (JQ8) from Singapore to Melbourne leaving at 9 pm in October. I have QFF Gold so am keen to use the Blossom Lounge in T4 before. I read that one member had got in successfully, but just wanted to check if other QF members got in on their QFF status? The other option is to go to the Qantas lounge at T1, but then its a messy transfer to get to T4.

Yes your SG status will get you access. The Blossom lounge is not good. If you have time I would use the QF lounge and transfer. I posted the bus transit times earlier in this thread.

Flew AK from Kul to Sin in June...without realising it, we ended up inT4...had to catch a bus to T1,2,3 to catch MRT to city...so I said f...k it and just took a Grab to city instead!

I did this flight a couple of months ago and have also been to Blossom Lounge using PP before travelling VN. Definitely recommend using the Qantas Lounge in T1.

If you reach the airport before 6pm you can do early check in at Jewel, which is almost in T1 (about 50m-100m walk from T1 arrivals) and then go through immigration in T1 and up to the QF lounge. I left the QF lounge at about 20:05 and was at the gate in T4 at 20:30 just as pre boarding was commencing. The transfer was relatively straightforward (and the transfer lounge in T1 where you take the bus felt like an airline lounge without catering of course) although JQ8 always leaves from the furthest gate in T4.

The other way of reaching city by public transport is catching a bus from T4 to a MRT station (I think there's at least one bus that goes to Tanah Merah - which is where you need to change MRT anyway, we caught one from T4 to Upper Changi station which is on our line).
