JQ/3K moving to T4 at SIN in March 2023 :-(

Just about to book a Jetstar flight BKK-SIN in January. From what I understand, it won't be changing to T4 until 25th of March, 2023. My onwards flight with QANTAS is from T1.
This is correct, at this point the moving date is late March 2023. That being said there is a frequent airside bus linking T4 and T1 so you wouldn't need to enter Singapore to get across to T1 if they change earlier, just allow a little more time.

Even with checked baggage?

Ah true, would need to enter Singapore in that situation. I haven't travelled with checked baggage for years so forgot about that.

I do wonder if the QF transit desk could send someone to fetch the luggage like they do in some airports?

If you aren't ticket on the same PNR then even if it was T1 to T1 you would have still needed to collect your luggage and recheck. If on one ticket then the bags would be tagged through so you could use the airside transfer bus.

Booking system has also been updated. It shows that the JQ operated 787 flights to MEL will remain in T1 whilst the 3K flights will move to T4.

Latest email suggests both will be moving to T4:

"Terminal change at Changi Airport

From 22 March 2023, Jetstar Asia (3K) and Jetstar Airways (JQ) flights will operate to and from Terminal 4 (T4) at Changi Airport in Singapore."

Just got the email for my April 12 flight Sin-Mel…

So, to use one of my valuable lounge passes, and treat myself, I assume I will need to check in at T4, catch the bus, live the high life for a short time :) then back to T4…. (:

I wonder if there is any chance they will block linking lounge passes to JQ flights out of SG

Todays email:

Too bad no early check-in for JQ:
Oh, as an aside that’s quite an expanded list now since I used the kiosks back in late July. It was just SQ, QF and MH then.

Too bad no early check-in for JQ:
There is early check for Jetstar in currently (Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam).

These images were taken late last month:

It seems to be that early check in at Changi T1 is now offered on all 3K flights up to 12hrs prior to departure (as it was prior to departure). I was able to check in about 11hrs before a 3K SIN-DPS flight with no questions asked (although one must use a staffed desk instead of kiosk).

Jewel early check in is kind of staffed now because there are people manning access to the kiosks asking for destination so it makes much more sense just to go upstairs to the normal 3K check in.

They also stamp your BP.

First flight 3K766 from MNL arriving at T4 half past midnight

I've not kept up with developments in terms of Changi's operational adjustments, but is a T4 connection from T1, and/or lounge access at T1 prior to a T4 flight going to be easy enough or attractive enough for most/many, or are we likely to see a noticeable decline in JQ/3K pax numbers at T1 & lounges as a result of this change?

The MCT will be a fair bit longer, extending journey times. Probably removed transit lounge experience for FFs too unless they have long transit times. It will be interesting to see the effect on transit pax numbers. O&D should be unaffected.

See my post #4 above but there is now a direct bus between T1 and T4 so it may take less time than the previous connection via T2:

The estimated time taken to travel between the terminals using the transit shuttle bus is as follows:
  • T4 to T1: 18mins
  • T1 to T3: 6mins
  • T3 to T4: 12mins

Thanks! OK - so factoring shuttle departure points, plus any wait time for the shuttle to show (which is apparently between 10-13 mins, 24/7), it is at best about an hour to get to and from T4<>T1, and 30 mins to get to T4 from T1 for QF>JQ/3K connections (assumes arrival gate close to shuttle departure point). Probably rules out all but the quite long transit pax from bothering with the lounges, when departing JQ/3K

I suspect there aren’t too many JQ/3K pax in the lounge at the moment. There are only 5-6 flights departing when the lounge is open anyway. It’s so common the last time I went there flying 3K the staff member was confused and didn’t know what to do (he asked me if Jetstar are part of oneworld!) until the other staff helped him and said “no it’s Jetstar just check his FF card”.
