Re: Jetstar to install iPad seats

Question is, will you earn SC's as well???

How much extra will it cost? And how successful will your business argument for your boss to pay extra for points be?

Yes

On reflection, this bit worries me - does that mean that a new charge for FF points will apply on all JQ fares, including those that already earn points? That's more like the type of enhancement we've come to expect / dread...
No. Still earn normal full rate Y SC/FF pts.

Yeah but will we on the new cheap fares?????
Yes, although would probably be Discount Y. Maybe a new minimum of 500 points per flight? Not too sure yet.

Thanks for the update QFCSA. look forward to hearing it on the official channels!

Re: Jetstar to install iPad seats

Thanks QFCSA, very interesting - look forward to hearing the details. :)

Re: Jetstar to install iPad seats

I'm much more interested in the SCs than the points but having both would be great. QF must really be worried about DJ eating into their market share fi they're considering all this for JQ!

Re: Jetstar to install iPad seats

Am I the only one that thinks paying for so called 'loyalty points' is just a big strange...

Nevertheless, the more SCs I can get, the better. ;)

Hence my question about tyring to justify it to the boss if on company travel!

May depend on how they package it though - I always thought JetPlus should have been extended to include FF points.

I don't think it's that strange. If there's a demand for it...
Agree with you on the SCs. This will make it much easier to stay at gold.

It would be part of a bundle (free changes/seating etc etc), but also it was noted that all could be purchased on their own.

I have to say that i'm quite interested in this. I fly a lot on routes where there is no QF presence -- hence i have switched almost all my flying over to DJ but JQ flights are often unavoidable (probably did a dozen last year ex NTL for example).

With some SCs from those and a modest amount of re-tweaking and the international flying i've been doing i could probably hit QF Gold to go with my DJ Gold over the next qualifying year.

Nice work Deathstar! Makes the $39 MEL<->SYD Flounging all that bit sweeter with every sip of the Tattinger.

Hmmm, now that you put it that way. This is a really clever plan, almost as if its aimed at myself...

I'm based on the Gold Coast, but always make the journey up to BNE to fly QF to SYD/MEL

Now, say a new fare (Lets call it JetPLus for now..) Offers snacks, Row 1, FF' points and SCs, it is a very similar product to what DJ will be offering.

With lounge access for Platinums (Right?) this is not a huge step down from QF, mainly the lounge and seat. And a bit of a step up from DJ's current offering.

Not to mention I save around an hour not having to drive up to BNE & back.

Considering I am close to making the switch to DJ, having QF make this move makes me wonder... And to be honest, I prefer the A320 to the non-BSI 737 anyday.

None of this could be true, just be carried away thinking. What do others think of my crazy theory:?:

Let's not all get carried away yet until we see it full and in action.

After all, no one has ever been impressed when they speculate to the max and then the real thing gets out.

In principle I like what's happening, but I have a feeling that it's not going to be as spectacular as it sounds. And people feeding predictions as to what this means for flying JQ and having / getting QF status is not helping things (if you know what I mean).

At the moment I let my staff buy Jetflex fares, not because I'm nice, it actually makes business sense for me.

We have an Y and Y+ policy for all flying including for the boss, but the trade off is that we pay for QP membership and encourage folk to get to SG to try and make travel at least a little bit more comfortable. :)

So I will have no problems in approving an additional fee for staff to earn SC's and points.

This sounds very nice, hopefully the additional fee isn’t a lot more, and I can add it to an existing booking if it does happen. :)

Additionally, isn’t rumour spelt with another 'u'?

And as always there are some people who would not be very impressed with these sort of changes and would consider them "enhancements" rather than "improvements" to the QFF program.

I know there are currently anomalies in the QFF program (think JQ *class, AA KUPs/YUPs) but I would certainly hope QF have had a good long think about it before making decisions and throwing SCs around for cheap JQ flights for a small surcharge.

Best to wait and see what is announced before making judgement.

I'd definitely be keen to see this introduced especially if you gain SC's for JQ flights

I wonder if it will affect the red e-deal prices on QF though as they are down towards JQ prices quite often as it is...

Pure speculation, but I can see this going like US airlines where at the check-in kiosk or even OLCI there is the option to purchase extra miles.
