[Rumor] JQ travel to earn FF points - for a Fee

If memory serves me correctly I believe questions along the lines of what is being discussed here were prominent in one of the focus groups/surveys QF conducted last year (and was discussed at length here).

Maybe QF are listening more than people think.... and maybe there are more people who want this than people think???

I agree, it came up alot in Red Roos 'tell us what you'd like to see' thread, very early on as well so more than likely got passed on there too. AFF works :)

This doesnt really bother me too much. On some levels I think this might be a smart and slightly devious move by QF. A lot of the not very frequent flyers who earn via Woolies and CCs might be tricked into this thinking it is really worthwhile when in fact it will have a negligible impact on their points balance but a huge impact on Qf's bottom line.

The psychological impact on me has made me stand back a bit ans question my sanity.

I have had to fly MEL-NTL twice this year. My choices were JQ, DJ or QF via BNE!!.

I flew JQ but had Jetflex fares both ways. when QF did service the route I would normally have a red e deal each way. So with JQ I got double the number of SC's, but paid more than double the price!

Going forward if I get 10 SC's each way with JQ on a discounted fair with a little extra to pay, I'll do that.

In effect QF will lose out by doing this in my case, and I have proven that I am probably certifiable!!

With home port being MCY another with no QF options.Generally will try to go with DJ but basically they only have mid morning services. So often have to use JQ.This will soften the blow but not make me switch from DJ where possible.
Although we assume lots of QFFers out there I often notice how few are on the DPO services-Tasmanians have a tendency to hold up their BPs foe everyone to see.Again though they dont have the option of eaning QF points via EDR.

Same with me... I sometimes go via BNE or sometimes use a JQ light fare via MCY. If I had to pay a bit more for the light fare & still received the 10sc I would definitely fly to SYD on JQ more often.

Hiii,

I was reading this thread eagerly and then.. posts stopped and the 1st of May passed and nothing happened :(

Does anyone have any follow-up information by any chance??

The 1st of May was a Sunday… and the 2nd [-]is a public holiday[/-]… I think it’s possible JQ might want to announce something this week to counter the effect of DJ’s announcement, be that tomorrow or Thursday… but who knows.

I would love it to be true, I fly regularly out of Newcastle, only JQ to play with or Virgin unless you are prepared to do Qantaslink (which I did recently on sale just to get some points to BNE for a change) so its Thurs guys, where's the lovely announcement to keep us regional people happy

Well the email most employees received stated that they would be launching on the 1st May, unless there are some testing issues, or commercial reason (due to DJ launch), may be delayed a bit more?
Email stated:

From1 May 2011, Jetstar will introduce a new fare structure across its entirenetwork that will allow customers to tailor their fares to suit their needs

Probably a good thing it was delayed, with the news of Osama really dominating. But I’m still hopeful they implement it soon, otherwise they’ll lose a flight I could book with them to ZQN. And that’s saying something, as I really don’t see a reason for considering them otherwise.

I'm recovering a little sanity. I have to make a trip to Newcastle and this time no Jetflex.

I see no value in flying deathstar with no SC's so this could be the thing that drives me to DJ!!!!

Personally, I'm smelling a rat here.
I think earning on JQ may be tied to a re-structuring of ASA's ie there won't be any more JASA's/ FASA's or even half decent YASA's ( as there isnt any as I post) I don't recall any of us asking for that. Not happy Red Roo :(

Not happy Red Roo :(

Maybe we should start a "Question Red Roo" thread. It would be nice to get a bit of feedback.

Having provided so much information in the form of ideas and suggestions it seems only fair that Red Roo might address some of the many questions asked in these forums.

Maybe the announcement will come later in the month but be effective from May 1 (ie, can put in a claim for points & SCs)?

It’s important to note that Red Roo wouldn’t be able to answer JQ-specific questions as they are two separate companies.

Also they could just have a bot that answers no to any of our questions & suggestions, it would be cheaper.

Example...
Me: Am I even slightly cynical?
RedRooBot: No.

Maybe QF should try and poach DJs web/ social media team? They're really good.

Are you sure they are two separate companies?

In my opinion they appear to be the same conpany, with no clear vision, run by one person.

I think the real issue here is that it is unlikely that Red Roo would be in a position to answer questions about a rumour.

The thread is about earning QF points and SC's on JQ flights so is relevant to Red Roo's domain. :) You probably need to post this in a thread about JQ only. :p
