Which is fine from your particular point of view. There will be others working in the media that will have a different view

But they don’t! That’s the bit you don’t get.. this doesn’t rate a blip even with travel writers. If this is so “huge” why hasn’t AusBT done a story on it? I mean it’s the biggest online travel news site in the country

AusBT doesn't report that type of operational news, nor does it claim to. It has a faily narrow focus reporting on cabin services and FF programs. Flight operations, safety and consumer issues aren't within its remit.

So if it’s not in the remit of AusBT (I’m sure that’s news to David Flynn) then who would be publishing such stories??

As I've already suggested, 'SMH' ran a major story about systemic QF delays (with its A388s) within the last 12 to 18 months.

'ABT' at present seems to have almost no or very infrequent reviews, any longer, of airline travel. If you look on the site today there's articles on a wide range of topics, some of which seem very thinly related to business travel if at all, but that's probably because as a site it needs to make money. Perhaps with international travel in and out of Australia beginning to slow down, international airlines are tightening the screws and perceive that giving freebies to these sites for an unknown (if any) benefit is not a good return for the cost involved.

It appears to choose, as MEL_Traveller suggests, not to feature stories on consumer matters like which airlines are the worst for cancellations.

news.com.au and maybe traveller.com.au, the latter a Nine Group (previously Fairfax Media) site have far greater audiences than that ABT site.

The News Ltd 'Escape' travel section (much as I dislike its sensationalism) in print and online combined would have a huge audience compared to 'ABT.'

AusBT has shared its views on its target audience here on AFF previously.

Have you had a look at news.com(.au)?

Given the under resourcing at news Corp, this so called story would not even gain traction. Their limited resources would be used for stories that generate traffic

MAnd as I pointed out, with limited staff unless there is something concrete they won’t be interested in The slightest. Limited traffic (despite what you might like to think) doesn’t interested the major metro papers. They want stories that generates clicks

Or they just make up stories without any factual evidence as we see with the so called AFL media

Ahh so they should just make up a story about Jetstar systematically cancelling flights??

Maybe you’d be better off contacting the well esteemed Betoota Advocate to run with your “story”, I mean judging by these stories surely it’s in their remit...

But then I don’t believe you monitor the delays and cancellations from Betoota?? So they may not be interested?

Not saying that at all. Just highlighting that the media do make up a lot of stories.
As for Jetstar I’m not too fussed if their cancellations are a coincidence or not as I refuse to fly with them and if anyone asks for recommendations I advise them to avoid Jetstar completely aswell

Jetstar are abominable and worth avoiding at all cost. Any time we have tried them in past has involved either tedium and a bad taste in the mouth right through to sheer disgust. Never again! ”The airline everyone loves to hate” is what they are known as.

Also known in this blog as the 'orange cancer', because over 15 years JQ has had a history of taking over some former QF routes.

What astounds me is how even some relatively savvy travellers book on JQ and are then surprised when travel goes pear shaped. If only they researched for 10 minutes, they would find evidence of this carrie's unreliability.

There would be passengers booking now blissfully unaware that strikes may resume from early Jan, or perhaps a lockout will occur.

Welcome @JKH
I wouldnt say "never again" but I can understand your sentiments. The "never again' refrain has been applied to every airline in the world.
I think with JQ, it may be reasonable to factor in extra travel time or factor in the possibility of not travelling at all - to a greater degree than other airlines.
