Ok!

Here's my little secret that l have put some UK & SA friends onto in the past and it works a treat.
Or at least it has in the past.

For points activity::!:

Go to the QF OZ website and sign in your memebership as normal.
Click on FF and then to "earning Points" and then click "travel & travel services" then go down the list to "travel books" and click

Click on the "itravelbooks.com.au" link button.

You can then make an online book purchase in any currency and you will recieve 2points per $spent. THERE IS NO MINIMUM SPEND TO EARN QF POINTS:shock:

You must add your FF no on the confirm order page.

I have seen books as low as $9.95 AUD.

I am not aware of any cheaper way to recieve a QF FF points movement.;)

I am suprised more people inside or outside of OZ are not aware of this.

I have kept this one a secret for some time now.

But in the Chrissy Spirit!

Happy season everyone

PS. (Hint) A street map of an Oz Capital city is only $9.95 AUD+ postage;)

If someone can beat this as the cheapest points movement method, l would love to hear it!

Just keep shopping at Woolies.

You have to eat don't you?

And they're no more expensive than Wesfarmers, et al.

There, problem solved.

Why not just spend $1.00 on a direct Qantas Earn Credit Card?? Like at a parking meter or coke vending machine ... :p

I thought there was a minimum $30 spend at Woolies to earn points?

Also not helpful to overseas people which I think was the point of the post...

Yes! your right simongr;)
Thankyou!

My post was for the advantage of our offshore members that have big prob's in nonfly points movement.

This was a simple, very cheap way to keep their points from expire/ing.

Anyway! who dosen't need a street map of Melbourne:rolleyes:

Indeed, shopping at Woolworths over here (online store only - they went bankrupt and I think someone bought the website) doesn't earn me any Qantas FF points.

It is pretty much moot as I earn points through other means and Qantas FF is my primary scheme, but I've certainly lost points in other FF schemes for inactivity... It's not always easy to earn points to credit to schemes.

Aaah where can you get an O/S credit card (outside AUS/NZ) that allows earning QFF pts? eg, SQ have moved into QF's patch, yet no movement into SQ's patch yet by QFF as far as credit cards go, obviously market not big enough to warrant.

I just got the aforementioned letter. I thought the way it laid everything out, especially the point earning, was pretty good. Never seen it laid out like this before.

It lists all the points earned from different services and also shows me how I’ve used my points (in my case I haven’t done a thing).
I just received this email earlier today.

I do hope that this is not going to be the new standard. The points listed as earned and used do not reconcile with anything recognisable. eg. I used 280,000 QFF points on 2 Oneworld awards earlier this year and the email states that I have used 265,886 QFF points on flights.

No point sending out useless information....

Here's a thought - I know family transfers won't count as activity any more. What if you transfer all your points out (if balance <100,000) to family so your balance goes to 0. Then a month later the person you transferred them to transfers them back. Could be one way of maintaining a life on those points for free. Or the flipside the reality? ie. If someone has held a QF account for 17 months but no activity/no points, gets a transfer of points from a family member - will they lose those points one month later because they've had no activity in the past 18 months?

will they lose those points one month later because they've had no activity in the past 18 months?

Yeah I think that is how it will work. The last activity date will still be > 18 months ago, so maybe the points would instantly go missing?

It's a good thought though...

Given the recent addition of the 4~ flights requirement and the introduction of the EDR program, I think QF determined they were spending too much in providing lounge access in the USA for non Australian frequent fliers......

Now if they would make the program a little less SYD-centric  I might reconsider the FF program alternatives..... At the moment PER-NRT--> USA is looking quite adequate.

I think you are reading too much into it and have determined that this will reduce their liability on miles and can do it because others are doing the same

I got my email yesterday, and arrived home to find that my 25 yo daughter, Bronze, had received a letter saying that she had until 31 Jan 2010 to use her 32,000 points or lose them. 6 weeks notice! I intend to follow this up with Qantas.

Just found the letter and re-read. She was close to the three year period. Dammit - why have I been using my points for her flights?

Don't stress.

Option 1 - get her a Woolworths Every Day Reward Cards. Spend $31 on the card before 31 January.

Option 2 - transfer some of your points to her (the new rule that excludes family transfers as activity doesn't come into effect until 1 July).

Option 3 - transfer all her points to you.

Option 4 - send her online shopping or stay at a cheap hotel partner, cheap hire car or other such activity.

Options 1 ,2 & 4 will extend life of her points until 31 Jan 2013 (assuming no further activity).

.

250 free points for linking if you do it prior to Christmas. Good way of not having to pay a cent for it :)

Reasonably new to this...................

So, if you, after the changes next year use your points earning method at least once every 18 months, will you keep all the points you have earned since enrollment in the QF scheme.

Some posts seem to indicate that there will be an 18 month (now 3 year) shelf life on the points earned, even if you still keep earning points after this cycle.

With any Qualifying activity crediting at least once every 18 months your points will remain for life* or until they are redeemed.

*Life: That of the QFF program or yours.
