Any activity (except family transfers) use/earn will keep your points alive.

Just found the letter and re-read. She was close to the three year period. Dammit - why have I been using my points for her flights?
Get her to transfer the points to you... you can then transfer them back when she needs them.

To state the blatently obvious, if you a really worried about points expiring after an inactive period of 18months, you are probably on the wrong forum! I believe the site uses the word 'Frequent' Flyer...

Points will not expire if you keep your account 'active', which is far better than most schemes out there that nuke your points regardless of account activity.

Go to Woolworths, get a free rewards card and buy yourself some liquor to calm yourselves down. That will keep your account active for another 18 months - win-win.

ComeFlyWithMe,

Are you aiming your comments at any specific individual :?: Every other poster on the thread has a higher post count than you and no one seems to have any real issues other than a few simple questions.

It sounds to me like you are the one who needs the trip to Woolies to buy the calming formula :!: ... or maybe you have already had too much :!:

Actually to be strictly correct ... as it relates to the OP, as the points expire NOW, any activity will keep the account active for 3 years. The 18 months thing comes into effect come July.

I've had a think about you post hence the long time to reply. Perhaps one recurring question that you seem to have missed is how to keep the account active if living overseas. Yeah, points don't expire if the account is active, but how to do that living overseas. Say in europe where you don't need to fly to travel and there is no woolworths?

Helpful. Very helpful.

That may be so, but there are quite a few 'used to be frequent' flyers on this board that have earnt themselves quite a nice stash which will give them years worth of free J \ F travel.

They hold the 'used to be frequent' tag as they have changed jobs and no longer get to do much travel, however rightfully so, they don't want to lose the collection of points they have built up.

How about a hotel stay? Would not cost much to earn between 600-1,000 QFF points at a hotel overseas.

Hotels Outside Australia

How about car hire? A simple 1 day car hire overseas from Hertz, Avis, Budget ot Thrifty would earn 700 QFF points.

medhead,

Get an EDR linked to your QFF and give it to a friend who once every 17.9 months goes to Wollies and buys $31 worth of dog treats, thereby getting you 1 QFF point and their dog a tasty treat for rolling over.

Or if you read my earlier post, how about $9.95 for a OZ street map.

I still cannot see any cheaper way than this for oversea's members.

Thanks everyone it was kinda of a rhetorical question to highlight that the post telling people to get over themselves had perhaps slightly missed one question that had been raised.

You do all have excellent suggestions on how to keep active even while overseas. But some of them aren't exactly easy, like 17.9 monthly doggy treats.

Resurrecting an old thread, but I thought this question was best asked here. Regarding the future program updates of being able to earn points and SC’s on Anyseat Awards, do you think they’ll only give points and SC’s per QF awards, or if you have an award from another airline booked into the correct award class, would they be able to differentiate?

I have several thousand Asia Miles I’d like to put to good use, and a free flight in QF with points and SC’s also earned seems very good.

I realise nothing substantial has actually been released (to my knowledge) on this change, but just trying to get some input early.

Easy answer, the only award flights one would get with Asia miles on Qantas wold be 'classic' type awards which do not book into the earning classes.

e.g. Economy -> X!
