Recieved a letter from KLM Today...

Dear Mr R,

Of course we want you to benefit from the Elite benefits of your Flying Blue membership through to 2013

However, as of 9 August 2011, our records show you haven't earned any Level Miles and/or made any qualifying flights this year. If you do not earn any Level Miles in 2011, you will lose your Flying Blue Gold benefits in 2012 and become an Ivory member.

Fortunately, there is a way for you to stay Elite. AIR FRANCE, KLM and our SkyTeam partners offer flights to 900 destinations on which you can earn Level Miles and retain your Flying Blue Elite membership. To stay Elite please make any qualifying flight before 31 December 2011. This will ensure you become a Flying Blue Silver member and continue to enjoy many of the Elite benefits you have grown accustomed to.

Blah Blah PR stuff.

We wish you a pleasant flight and look forward to welcoming you back as a Flying Blue Elite member in 2012.

Regards,

Isabelle Birem
Director Flying Blue

I got the status match then I flew Air France CDG-TLS, and later in the year I hope to be flying a segment on KLM AMS-TXL on the F70, another new plane type.

Then I am planning a TXL-FRA segment on Lufthansa, as one airline only flies to FRAnkfurt, I am sure you can guess the airline.

Hmmm, first of many? No way I'll be flying any qual flights between now and the end of this year. Easy come, easy go!

I also don't think I will be making any qualifying flights between now and the end of the year. If I drop down to Ivory it's not a massive loss as I used it to get the status match to LH so between Oneworld and StarAlliance I think I've got the majority of my likely destinations covered.
