Krisflyer miles refunds - Taking forever! Anyone else with this problem?

I called up again today to express my displeasure. They charged my credit card US$300 for 4 PAX miles reinstatement fee and seem to think that it’s acceptable to still be holding the circa $800 + 363k miles refund I’m owed two month later. Was given the same “I will escalate for you” nonsense again. Not happy at all.

Called again on Sunday afternoon and got the same “I will expeditor now for you” nonsense, this time with the promise of a callback on Monday to explain what’s going on. Of course the call back never came.

Finally sick of waiting and called again today. Told it will be expedited again. That was enough for me - totally unacceptable, a total joke etc etc. Apparently those words were enough for him to go and process the refund immediately (which actually just highlights to me what a joke the whole thing is). Let’s see if he actually does it!

So the “I’ll do it for you immediately” was obviously a lie/promise he was unable to keep. Called again and blasted them. The person I spoke to today apparently has escalated as urgent and will get back to me within 24hrs. In fairness to him I’ll give him the opportunity to fix the issue but after that I’m done. Will blast them on Facebook etc. Totally had enough of the BS!

I'm still waiting for a refund for a cancellation for an award trip (Syd-Sin-Cph-Kef) on June 1st. I cancelled online in April as directed, and despite 3 or 4 calls since, am yet to receive a refund - the return leg of this trip 2 weeks later, cancelled at the same time, was refunded 3-4 weeks ago!

Now that SQ has extended the refund policy to flights up to Nov 30 (booked before Mar) I submitted my cancellation requests today, for flights I had booked for the end of Sept. I immediately received a "Refund request acknowledgement" email, but we'll see how long it takes for points to appear back in my KF account.

In contrast, my IcelandAir cancellation request had a 3-year credit voucher arrive in my email within 2 minutes.

Our Krisflyer refunds are all over the place. One flight has had refunded the taxes but not the points, that was around four weeks ago, multiple phone calls still not resolved. Another has refunded the points but although Singapore Airlines sent advice on 8th August fees had been refunded they are yet to appear.

Many airlines are quick to offer flight vouchers or credit vouchers. The main trick is getting one's cash back.

Airlines may or may not survive.

Requested cancellation Tues.
Email received Wed confirming refund of taxes paid in cash, due in 4-6 weeks (like everyone else).
KF miles used to buy tickets, credited back into account today.

Filled in cancellation form on Saturday 8th. Points were back in account on Wednesday 12th, along with a taxes refund notice email, and that's now showing as back on my credit card today, Tuesday 18th.

I have a trip in Jan 2022... fingers crossed I'll have the same luck as you! Reward trip.

Edit: 2021.

Weird. I cancelled last week. Points back within a couple days. Fees back now too.

All the inconsistency can only add to people’s frustration and irritation.

Received notice of flight cancellation on 28th of July (points booking), i submitted the refund request on 29th of July and points and taxes all refunded by 3rd August. Flights scheduled for 31st August, not sure whether proximity of departure date helps with time for refund to come back.

Flight scheduled 18th of March, cancelled on the 16th of March. Points back in account last night. It took nearly 24 weeks to get the points back. No sign of the taxes yet.

They should be ashamed of customer service like that. It’s embarrassing.

SQ have cancelled my flights and are currently holding my points and dollars.

So what's the best way to get a refund currently? ie to ring or use their online forms?

I rang again last week (about the 4th or 5th time) as still hadn't be refunded....was put on hold, and the points were immediately refunded whilst I waited; was told it would take 4-6 weeks for the taxes to be refunded but this appreared a few days later - my experience for the benefit of others. i have another award flight in Dec which i will need to cancel. :(
