KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes

There were heaps when the promo started. I guess its all snapped up.
I ended up using points to book economy flights from DAD to SIN because revenue fare was at $240AUD and points here 8750. The promo kinda made it ok but if there was no promo - I would buy the ticket.

International flights are usually always cheaper when you buy return compared to oneway.
Domestic flights doesn't mater.. they just add the two way fares together. But international will give you a slight discount when you book return with the same carrier.

yeah thats what i was worried about. But with the spontaneous escapes, I cant find any business class flights that i need to fit in with my return dates and to take advantage of the promo :(. damn, not sure what to do.
Yeah terrible value
Unless your points are expiring very soon , it's like throwing them away might as well pay cash for the flight

I have just done that for several SQ and BA bookings. Our old passport has been cancelled but I use that number with a slightly longer valid date as our new passports are still yet to arrive.

If my transit in singapore is only 1hr 15minutes and i am booking a business class flight. Is that enough time to enjoy the lounge or not really?

With SQ, I just have booked with the expired details. I have not had a booking declined yet with SQ.

Next month I will renew my expired passport.

What's the alternative transit time? You don't want it to be too long such that it's boring.
But yes 1hr15min may not be enough time to fully appreciate the lounge offering (if this is your first time visiting the SKL).

I have been once before. I saved up all my CC points for over 10 years, transferred it all across and then Covid hit right after my first business flights :(. So only been once at the moment and got quite a few points still to use. The alternative is basically a later date, which has pros and cons attached to it, Its a bit less convenient but i can have a 2hr50min layover instead of 1hr 15. Those seem to be the only 2 viable options besides like 7 or 9 hr layovers which is way too long.

Wow, 10 years - that's amazing. Well done on your patience while you built up your points. I know what it's like to earn points at a slow rate (I'm assuming you're in the same position), it really can take the shine off things. But the reward (pardon the pun) of flying in comfort - well that's just priceless.

Ah yes, I'd recommend weighing up the pros and cons of keeping the same date and only having a ~1 hr layover (if the first flight is delayed/late then this will be even shorter). Best case scenario - the first flight is early and the second flight is delayed by an hour or so, you might be able to pull off 2 hrs in the SKL.

If moving to the other date doesn't have too many negatives, then go for it, a 2 hr 50 min transit is perfect for experiencing the SKL including a shower, a steam of your clothes and some meals/drinks to boot!

One good thing is that alcohol in Singapore is stupidly expensive.
Going into a lounge and having free flowing tap beer at lunch time (no im not an alcoholic) after paying $12 a beer at a Singapore bar, is a great feeling!

HAHA, I can imagine a whole bunch of pax at the SKL getting absolutely sh*tfaced after seeing the reality of what you've brought to light 🤣

Yeah my earn rate is just Credit card purchases. I dont have a business CC or fly for work or anything like that sadly. In hindsight apparently what i did was wrong (waiting 10 years before using it) as points just keep devaluing so i lost some value in my points by waiting so long. I hadnt realised and I didnt know much about points back then.

Damn, so i checked today and i found a departure flight (a few days later that fits, but then i would like to move my return flight back a day or 2 ) .Is that possible if i booked a promo escape rate? I went to manage my booking but didnt have an option to change date. It was greyed out.

I wonder if they release more seats sporadically or if perhaps people cancel their flights and hence why it became available. This flight definitely wasnt available yesterday.

That's by design - making a booking on a promo rate means the ticket is now locked in and fixed, there's no flexibility with it.
That's one of the downsides of the promo, your plans need to be rock-solid.

See Point 6 in the Terms and Conditions:
Any change is strictly not permitted for bookings made under this promotion. Cancellation is also not permitted for partially unused or totally unused tickets.
