Unfortunately I am no longer able to attend this event.

A car decided to T-bone me on Tuesday and I've been in hospital. Had surgery yesterday and won't be able to walk for at least 6 weeks.

Ouch. Get better soon.

Seriously bad luck. I hope you are feeling better soon. We will need a get together in SYD after you are released so you can tell us all about it and those that attend the KUL - SIN crawl can tell you personally what you missed

I'm ok, and it turns out the hospital food is better than a lot of QF J catering I've had lately anyway :p

Oh that is just cough. I hope you are on the mend sooner rather than later. We will raise a glass to you in KUL and SIN.

Take care.

A quick update.

I’m home now and am on the road to recovery but it’s going to be long. I now have screws in my leg and there’s going to be physio and such after the initial six weeks to learn how to walk again.

My Dr doesn’t want me back at work until June 20 at the earliest so I’ll probably go stir crazy stuck at home.

I’m in good spirits but it’s a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride at the moment.

Flights have been cancelled just pending if it can be refunded. I also explained what happened to the IC Robertson Quay and even though it was a non refundable reservation they have issued a full refund and that was so nice of them!

So really the travel insurance will just be to get back the QF J fare if they don’t refund.

Please make sure there are updates posted in the thread of the activities so I can attend by proxy. I want to see lots of wine and t bone steaks :)

The insurance process has been kicked off and I’ll be covered income wise so that’s all the stressful bits taken care of so I can concentrate on getting better.

You can be damn certain I’ll be making up for this next crawl or event. I know basically all of you personally so if any of you are in Sydney and would like to pop into my place in North Sydney for a wine and a post crawl debrief then I’d love to have you over. I’d kill for a G&T or glass of wine right now but I’m told that’s a major no no with the very heavy medication I’m on :)

Here’s the car that hit me:

And here’s a few hours prior to discharge. Was smiling because I’d just had my first shower in a few days and I’d been topped on morphine and endone.

Can’t wait to get off the medication though. It’s horrible stuff.

So do you have TAC type insurance for lost income and medical bills?

And the damage to your car?

95% of my income is covered for up to 3 months and subject to assessment beyond that. Medical bills completely covered. I haven’t had to pay a cent.

I was on a motorcycle but that’s comprehensively insured as well. It’d be very surprised if it’s not written off.

The only damage to my body was where the car impacted me. The $2,000 worth of protective gear is was wearing did its job and the rest of my body didn’t even have a scratch.

I was not at fault. The police are pursuing charges against the driver.

A mobility scooter is being delivered on Tuesday so I can get around without crutches - go to the shops etc.

Fortunately there is a really good cafe in my apartment building that’s an elevator ride 18 floors straight down. It’s become my second home :)

Here now :)

I am cognisant that I’m going off topic a bit so apologies.

Deal!

Hopefully you have a speedy recovery. It sounds like all the practical stuff is getting sorted, which takes away some of the worry.

Bronze for me.
I was going to be platinum for this one, but the return SIN -> Australia screws me re the time. Can't take the Monday off, which I'd much rather do ;)
Always next year!

Monday is a public holiday:(

I really must hit up one of these Asia lounge crawls. Unfortunately this one is out as I'm saving my budget for epic walking in Europe later this year (trip report thread to be started soon). HKG next year though? Can we start a campaign to get Sodexo out of Pier F?

Epic walking what does this mean, do you have to walk with or carry your own luggage to your room :p, this is epic very definition of epic walking in our household.;)

@trippin_the_rift how far is Tune Hotel KLIA Aeropolis from KUL? I believe it's near the old airport or about 20kms away? Rough idea of what a taxi would cost?

cyberjaya is middle-o-nowhere at least 20km from KLIA
There is a tune hotel in the city. Also doubletree and aloft are usually under $100 aussie/night and easily accessible
