It’s certainly not a Boeing I suppose is the key pointAnd isn't the 717 an MD95 or a DC9-neo

I was just thinking this the other day, funnily enough!Like A220 isn’t an Airbus
Me too. I’ve flown a lot of CBR-SYD and vv on a 717 and always quite liked them. All good things come to an end. Their time is up but kind of sad to see the end of them
It and the C17 however are two aircraft that can push back under their own power, no tug required (known as a power back), both made at the same factoryIt’s certainly not a Boeing I suppose is the key point
Just taxied in an A220 past this bird parked outside a hangar in CBR..View attachment 410518 I was on the last flight for this bird last night QF1501 from SYD to CBR
I just don’t understand how 4xA220 are replacing 20ish 717s, recognising that some of the workload has been taken on by the Ejet fleet. Not that many 717 crews are trained up on the a220 (pants would be mid seniority list and has not done line training as yet)
The 717 utilisation was also not as high compared to other fleet types.I just don’t understand how 4xA220 are replacing 20ish 717s, recognising that some of the workload has been taken on by the Ejet fleet. Some bases were notoriously lax (CNS, DRW, HBA). MEL has been pretty well flogged for its short history IIRCThe 717 utilisation was also not as high compared to other fleet types.
Even when they had the full contingent of 20 aircraft, they could have covered the schedule with much less.
I recall boarding an AA "717" in Washington and inspecting the manufacturer's plate as I boarded ( don't we all?).I assume that it would be very similar to the old DC9's? Or are you a young whippersnapper who never flew on one

CBR-SYD is one of the biggest impacts for me. With no 717 from next week there's only 1 flight each day with J class (on a 737), dropping from 4 flights with the 717.A lot of 717 flying has been taken over by 737s temporarily or routes suspended
26 October:Still to be confirmed but the last 717 ever built will be operating its last services at the end of the month:
QF1500 CBR-SYD 0600-0655
QF1503 SYD-CBR 0735-0830
QF1504 CBR-SYD 0910-1005
QF1563 SYD-LST 1205-1350
QF1562 LST-SYD 1430-1610
QF1511 SYD-CBR 1655-1750
Via MEL if time permits... that leaves us with 12 J seats per day to compete with against politicians and SES public services.
Sydney T3 Lounge Crawl? Are we aiming to do a meetup?
No chance of me getting involved - been too busy with another function. Plus I don't think it's coming via BNE ...
